I lost my daughter (age 31) . I think of her every day and try to live life as she would want me to, trying to keep her memory alive for her two sons. I also have a son battling cancer . I feel for Chacha losing his daughters. Peace to you chacha

Beautiful sentiments and Abdul’s story about every night thinking of his daughter and one day meeting her in the afterlife, brought tears to my eyes. Bless him and all of you.

Eric Clapton has stated that he doesn't want to sing this song anymore. He wrote it to deal with the loss of his song, but all fans demand to hear it all the time. For him it is now torture. He's forced to relive the worst moment in his life over and over again. So, he said that he will not song it again and asks his fans to not request it.

01:02 -- He is praying that he and his deceased child will recognize each other in heaven, and asking that the Lord will let her know that her daddy is there now for her, and make sure they find each other, once he arrives there too. Before even hearing the song, he already knows exactly how it feels. Of course, he always is the member of the group who interprets the songs correctly before even hearing the translated lyrics, but this time he knows even before watching the video, because he has lived through it himself. 😢

I lost my son 36 years ago when he was 5 months old, this song still makes me cry, I still celebrate his birthday every April 13th.

These men know people. Their eloquence in empathy is heart-warming.💗 Thank you. From Yorkshire UK.

Beautiful. To hear Abdul speak about having the same thoughts - will they know me when I get there? It touched my heart.
  • I also lost my daughter when she was 23, just becoming herself as a young woman and about to become a nurse. It has been 8 years. I miss her every day , but the grief is just a part of me now. Songs like this bring it to the surface again. I cannot listen to this without tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat.

I'm a Pakistani living in Australia. Watching these beautiful men listen, empathise and express in such delicate, respectful and eloquent manner just warms my heart and makes me miss home even more. Such beautiful people we have. I hope we (all humans), like them, can learn to understand/know people. We're all the same, just separated by borders.

My wife and I were blessed to know the answer to his pain. Our son died at the age of 2 years and 3 months from leukemia. Two nights after he passed away, we were sleepless and in pain, very late at night we were in bed and both heard music coming from the living room. We both got up and on top of a cabinet was a book of his, the kind of book that played music only when it was opened. The book was closed. We both felt our son’s presence at that moment and we knew he was telling us he was fine and not to be sad. We took that book and placed it in his coffin along with our family picture. That was in 1985. We knew then, just as we know now, that whatever struggles we go through in this life, we will all be reunited in heaven.

I have never lost a child but have lost 3 brothers, 4 friends and many fellow people because of war. PTSD has destroyed my brain. I can no longer work, eat, sleep or enjoy life. I feel lost. Thank you for sharing. I hope the best for you all. Love from the United States.
  • Grief is universal - part of the human experience. Although there is a language barrier, these lovely people were able to zero in on Clapton’s facial expressions as well as the response of the interviewer, and articulate the beauty and pain of this song. Very nice reactions.
  • Thank you for playing this i just lost my only grandson he was in a bad car wreck with his best friend they were on their way to go eat breakfast like they had done every Sunday it killed both of them instantly he was 17 and his best friend was 19 it happend 03-24-2024 his funeral is friday and this is the hardest thing i have done this song is one i picked to play ❤😢😢

There's also a beauty in the song's simplicity. It is almost like a nursery rhyme. It is something that a 4 year old could appreciate.

It is such a joy to witness men that know. There is no pretense, no lie, just knowing. So beautiful.

My niece lost her son last year at 15 years old, now when I hear this song its even more sad but I do love it.
  • @damian_smith
Peace to all of you, and extra love to Uncle Abdul for sharing his sorrow.

One of my favourite songs. I really felt sad for Abdul losing children. He is such a lovely man. I always enjoy his point of view. God bless. ❤
  • These are very smart men, they could not even understand the words but they understood the pain, , I listen to all sorts of music, all languages, music talks to your soul
