A glove box is a piece of safety equipment that lets you perform work on something while keeping it in isolation. It is most commonly used to protect operators working with hazardous materials, but it can also be used to protect sensitive materials from the outside atmosphere.
In this project, I show you how to make a simplified DIY glove box to help contain your next messy, smelly, or sensitive project. Since different applications require different degrees of isolation, I demonstrate a variety of design features and how to implement them. You can then choose which features you want to use in your glove box.

2:25 BEST PART OF THE VIDEO!

This video was really helpful but I think there's one thing people should consider. I bought a cheap clear container and my rotary tool caused cracks stemming from the because the material is really brittle. I used a hot knife for the other hole and it worked perfectly. So for a cheap container I'd recommend a hot razor knife. Thanks for this vid and all the others as well.

Came across your video,as I want to build my husband a little spray booth for his model cars.We live in an apartment so containing the smell is important. This is exactly what I had planned. Thanks so much for the easy, straight to the point instructions.

Wow!! what a great idea. Im a model railroader, sometimes I need to strip a shell to do a repaint. Ive been using a Passche Air eraser...(aka sandblaster) outside, but it still can get messy. I was thinking maybe I could use this idea but turn the bin right side up to contain the used sand. Thanks

I can see this being pretty helpful, considering I do a lot of work with spraypaints and dry guns but live in a small apartment room with hardly any outdoor work space. Very cool stuff.

2:25 lol the cat is like "what i am on a diet, i am working on it!"

This is really cool. I've been wanting to make one of these for a while.

One of the problems with trying so hard to make the box airtight without a ventilation fan is that once a contaminant gets in, micro-currents from your hand movements ensure that the airborne contaminant circulates all over. You want to give a chance for the contaminant to go out more easily than it comes in! Even with small fans and especially vacuum hoses, the differing air pressure will suck in contaminants through any leak. I don't know about smelly fumes or smoke, but for a sterile working environment, the vigilance and maintenance involved with this make purchasing a laminar flow hood a much better option.

Thank you so much for this video really helpful

Awesome! Thanks guys

"Or by placing a heavy weight on top of the box"- shows a cat :3

This is sweet! What mad scientist doesn't need a glove box.

You can also take a 4" coupling connector and chop it up into slices and use that to secure the PVC or even cement it in place

Thank you for doing this video, but the Cat stole the show! I like how your 'To the point'. TYTYTY your vid will inform people for as long as there's an internet

pretty cool was looking for a quick cheap DIY glove box now i can fix a few HDDs

This would be amazing with resin work. I try to avoid it due to the mess, but this could be great. This would probably also be great when shaving and shaping PVC with a dremel or similar too, as the dust goes everywhere. Maybe even for sanding down a 2-part epoxy seal to be smooth.

I like this. Could be used to keep enchant from getting everywhere while making pcb's.
