BUSHCRAFT Catch and Cook - Trout Fishing in a BLUEBELL FOREST (Spring Foraging)

Published 2022-05-18
Fishing for trout in a spectacularly scenic Bluebell forest and then cooking them using bushcraft methods. I meet bushcraft expert Rick T and learned how to Ponass a trout, how to cook straight on the coals, how to start a fire and what can be foraged in the woods in spring. Ponassing a trout is a native american method of cooking fish over an open fire, and cooking straight on the fire couldn't have been simpler.

  • Absolutely fantastic edit George of a great day. Was a pleasure to meet ya and fish/share a few skills and generally spend some quality time in the great Outdoors. Always great to relive a trip through the lens/eyes of someone else too. Billy had a great time too and he enjoyed his fair share of trout didn't he . Atb George and here's to the next one πŸ₯ƒ, cheers Rick n Billydog

A great video, nice to see you eating the fish. It was a pity that there wasn't any wild garlic about that you could have used. I hope that you gave that dog the guts and heads he was so well behaved and deserved a share.

Good video mate. This is something I definitely want to try, a catch and cook. I went fishing for the first time this week and really enjoyed it, the time flew by.

its nice to see with catch & cook its nice to mix it up a bit, new sub
  • I used to fish there in late 1960’s before they put in any rainbows, no boats and dry fly only. The bailiff from Liverpool Water used to live in the little house down the track by the Hare and Hounds in Abbey Village. By the way there are some big pike in the lower reservoir by the pub.
  • That looked like a cracking day and a good feast. I feel hungry after watching that though. πŸ˜› Well done mate.

It's awesome that you explain the process as you're fileting and setting the fish up, very useful information. Thank you for sharing!
  • great video, saw Rick his video, so this is good to see it from the other side.

  • Top video mate! What a class trip and so much info learnt too πŸ€™πŸ» Also those rainbows look fresh as..!!
  • Finally got round to watching this. Catch some fish! I like my nettle in place of spinach in a lot of meals. I follow Rick on here. I've never tried fly fishing and I'm anxious to try it. I always thought it was for rich folk like bank managers etc. Good to see normal folk at it.
