When I visited a dear friend on Tuesday we had the best time in her and her husband’s backyard New England farm garden picking pole beans and zucchini and Swiss chard etc. and of course tomatoes. I stopped at the market on my way home for a loaf of white bread. You can tell Matt that when I got home I could not wait to make a tomato sandwich with Hellmans mayo and lots of black pepper. Before I even took a bite, I said a gratitude prayer and raised a glass of milk to you both and to my late Mom who also loved her summer tomato sandwiches! ps I love your cookbook so much, Tipper!! It arrived so quickly and it is so beautifully produced. Everyone needs one in their kitchen! Love to your family and hi to Binks too❤ Nini

My mom loved cantaloupe, she’d buy ones that were about the size of a bowling ball. She’d cut it in half scoop out the seeds, put ice cream in it like a bowl and eat it.

  • I just learned from your girls that Miss Cindy and I share the same birthday, August 6. I just turned 67. She was special and I love how ya’ll continue to share and celebrate her life
  • Delicious looking supper. I can't wait to try the tomato tart. Give Granny my love. Good is so graciously good to answer our prayers. We pray for Granny when we say our nightly prayers. My grand daughter, Layla, loves her so much. She had me looking for videos of Granny singing.

What a beautiful meal. We are truly blessed with the foods we can grow.
  • Our whole family eats their cantaloupe with black pepper. I can't imagine eating supper without ice tea. We have always kept ice tea ready at all times, especially meal time.i could eat corn everyday!

I just love this channel. I hope you don't mind me always commenting. We cut cantaloupe, or honey dew, into longer strips and wrap it in Prosciutto di Parma. The sweet mixed with the salty is divine!

One of the many things I enjoy about watching you cook, Tipper, is that you assure beginner cooks that they don’t need to worry about perfection. As a young wife with zero cooking experience I thought every dish I made was basically a failure because it wasn’t perfect. Betty Crocker, Good Housekeeping, and Julia Child cook books guided me. It was so hard trying to cook at all, having never even made a scrambled egg in all my 19 ears. Momma would not allow us in the kitchen. She meant well. I had two sons who insisted on cooking! Maybe I could have insisted too. Well, it’s good to reassure young people to not worry about perfectly cut onions, or how to “ properly cut the butter in to the flour, and give them some confidence.

I know it sounds silly and can't really be, but I swear when you were scraping that cantaloupe I could smell it. It's absolutely amazing what tricks the mind can play on us. That pizza looks delicious. Way better than delivery from any where.

Growing up the only name I ever heard small tomatoes called was tommy-toes. Never heard of cherry or grape tomatoes until I grew up and left Appalachia. The meal looked and sounded delicious, wish we had smell-a-vision.
