Truck shown in the F&F scene is a 359. It has the external breather hoses running through the hood's walls and it has fender integrated/mounted turn signals. I know the 379 also has squared pod lights but the 359 also had them before, it came around in the late 70's or early 80's if I'm not mistaken.

You should do Mack Trucks next? Mack has a long history of trucks dating from the early 1900's.

Optimus Prime is the sole reason for why Peterbilt is my all time favorite Semi truck company, and why the 379 is my favorite Peterbilt and Semi truck of all time

The truck that was used in the first fast and furious movie was indeed a late production 359 Pete. Not sure of the year actually, but it was definitely built in the mid-80s. Square headlights was an option for the 359. There's a few ways to tell a 379 apart from a 359 externally IF THEY ARE STOCK. 359s had separate circular turn signal lights mounted on the fender while the turn signals were integrated on the headlight clusters on a 379. Another way to tell them apart is the wipers. 359s had wipers that faces outwards or positioned vertically towards the center. The 379s were more contemporary and both wipers faced to the passenger side. Also the cabs of the 359s were more narrow than on the 379 and the windshield were more vertical than on a 379. Where it starts getting difficult is that owners of 379s purposely make their trucks look "old". They swap out the rectangular headlights for either dual circular headlights or even single circular headlight clusters. Honestly, this makes me want to find a needlenose Pete and slap on 389 headlight clusters just to piss people off. Btw, the 587 is dead. The 579 ultraloft replaced the 587 as peterbilt's high-rise sleeper
