The Brand New Entry in the FNAF Franchise just came out; Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach, to mixed reviews from fans and critics alike, so I figured I'd throw my 2 cents into the ring to discuss why I think Security Breach's biggest problem is its Over-Ambition.

What did you think of Security Breach 🤔
  • @canofcheese5682
Literally you know the game has something wrong when the “king of fnaf” finishes the game and asks if they ran out of budget at the end
  • The whole "Gregory not reacting to anything" really gets to me. This is a child who is experiencing crazy events that shouldn't be happening in a children's entertainment place, yet very rarely does he ever questions things or even ask questions. He goes down to the basement and sees a giant blob of wires and animatronic parts that is moving, not a single word.

This game got “scary” confused with “dirty”… every time they wanted to make the characters look scarier they just made it look grimier without explaination. Why does Chika look like she rolled in mud even though 5 minutes earlier she’s shiny clean
  • @PandaorasBox
Honestly, I think a silent Gregory would have the potential to be more emotional and way better. Maybe just whimpers and panting to give a reaction. Scared to silence. "That is the security guard. She can help!" Cue head shaking animation and frightened whimpers "No? Why not? You seem frightened. Very well. I suppose we can find another way." Animatronics near by? A smal gasp and muffled heavy breathing. He could be nameless. Or it could be revealed at the end of the game. Or in the first Vanessa scene where she scolds Freddy. "A child is hiding in the pizzaplex. His name is Gregory." So much potential, wasted.

I remember seeing someone have the idea of a “daytime mode” for the pizzaplex, where you can explore the place without the threats. I so wish they would’ve done this.
  • One thing I never got was how Vannesa was changed so drastically. In the trailer, she seemed to want to help Gregory and knew about the dangers. But in the game she is a brat that gets two minutes of screen time total, including Vanny.

I have a problem when collectibles in a game are pointless. The fact that the collectibles, all but three, serve NO PURPOSE is baffling and a huge missed opportunity
  • @smflash
"Something about Gregory seems.. off." I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that! The reason why I initially thought that Gregory was actually a robot instead of a child was because I found what he said to not really be what kids normally talk like.
  • @MistaBrando
I’m still confused about how a game with a mystery plotline about child abduction/murder became a franchise seen for little kids. Like the overwhelming amount of children that love FNAF is staggering, seeing FNAF shirts on shelves right next to Paw Patrol and Minecraft boggles my mind.

I also absolutely hate how overhyped Vanny was I get having to cut stuff etc, but cutting the main antagonist???
  • I think a big reason in why the game isn’t scary is that whenever an animatronic sees you, it plays a sound effect, letting you know that it sees you. It would’ve been way scarier if that sound effect didn’t exist and you just heard footsteps getting closer and closer.
  • FNAF Security Breach was being kind of targeted to younger audiences, while also trying to appeal slightly to the smaller adult demographic. They removed things like "blood" from the games dialogue and even removed Vanny's knife from her design altogether. I feel like they should have done the entire focus on one single ending, building up to a final boss, and keeping the non-child friendly stuff out, because, this is a horror game franchise. It is meant to be scary, but the bright and colorful Pizzaplex really isn't. The jumpscares also don't help, as they seem too toned back from earlier games in the franchise. That's really all I have to say
  • @gigaphoton376
My biggest problem with Security Breach is the story, it's just so incoherent. The worst offender that I don't think people talk about enough are the "disappearances". What's going on with that? Why is it only properly mentioned at the end of the game? Why do Gregory and Freddy talk about them like they were well aware of it? How are these disappearances even related to Fazbear Entertainment? I mean, it can't be because they happen in the Pizzaplex, after all, Vanny catches Gregory in an alley on one of the endings. It's also not referring to the missing children's incident, since it seems like there are even adults disappearing, so, what gives?
  • @aussieboy4279
I don’t understand people get incredibly angry at game delays. Game delays are almost nothing but good and the negative attention SB got from being delayed twice makes me really sad as I think this game should’ve been delayed again. It needed more time and polish and had so much potential to be better than it is. I actually think the game is quite fun despite its bugs and problems but yeah it could’ve been better
  • I especially hate the save features, I think instead of having the little save tablets there should be an option to save in the menu or on the faz watch like how every other game lets you save, and not letting us save after 6AM was the worst decision in my opinion. The game isn't that hard but with the bugs and other issues having to get sent all the way back is a real pain.
  • @lightworthy
a trap many writers will do when revising and editing a story they’ve worked on for a long time is remove crucial plot points thinking they’re unnecessary or redundant (or an editor will) and not know the plot point is missing because they’re working with the knowledge of how the story has progressed. THATS a major problem of security breach, when “trimming the cake” they forgot that the players will be coming to it with ZERO knowledge of the years of work and storyboarding and character development they had while making the game, and clearly forgot to put it back. they cut the actual cake off and only left the frosting. fnaf has alway been vague, but security breach isn’t vague, it’s fully expects you to understand cutscenes and story beats and especially ENDINGS that have no context left in the actual game. the context was left on the cutting room floor and no one in development realized because they were working with a shared common sense basis that the player will never have
  • @mrbusinesss1
I honestly think they should’ve delayed it again, maybe for another 6-12 months. Some people hate it when games get delayed, but I’d rather have a better game that lives up to its potential later than a broken disappointing game forever
  • "I felt like I was only scratching the surface" Yeah. It's like... This isn't security breach. This is a demo for the game that they accidentally put endings into.
