Exploring Vancouver in the 1900s A Colorized Journey

Visitors have been drawn to Vancouver since the city's founding because of the breathtaking vistas of its surrounding landscape. Vancouver started to draw tourists once the Canadian Pacific Railway was finished in 1887. Business leaders formed the Vancouver Tourist Association in 1902, which produced maps and pamphlets. The Great Northern Railway established a direct rail link between the city and the USA two years later. Tours of the city's sights highlighted its expansion, showcasing the forest in Stanley Park, the canyon in Capilano, the West End, and the mansions of Shaughnessy. Vancouver's history has always included a significant amount of tourism. Many of the historic sites built in the early 1900s continue to be attractions in the city, which has long been regarded as a "distinctive destination." Early visitors to Vancouver came for two reasons: to savor the therapeutic effects of the surrounding environment and to discover the limitless possibilities of a developing metropolis.
