I’m starting out as a beginner with moss poles so it’s good to see how the starts look. Always love your clear videos. Also your diction and speech is fabulous. No Um’s and aah’s.
  • Wonderful. My biggest reason why I start small, is the satisfying feel seeing them grow into giants! Almost all my plants were from small. Those big cuttings were from before I understood the satisfaction of growing from small. If I had to do it all over again, I'd get them all baby size! 😁
  • I gotta stop watching these videos. I've got 14 plants crammed into my tiny bedroom, about 500 (equivalent) watts of grow lights, and NOW I'm making custom moss panels to hang on my walls😂
  • @Ulcerbloom
It's been 13 months, we need an update to this video❤❤❤
  • Totally agree. Starting with baby plants make them much more fuss-free - all my calatheas that I bought very small that grew up in my home are easy going and very resilient. And the joy of seeing the small plants grow large - priceless 🙂
  • Your videos saved me so much space and arguments with my husband 😂 growing vertically is genius! I don’t have to downsize my collection due to space, and I love that they get more nutrients this way. It just makes sense. The only downside: now I want more alocasia because I have space! 😂
  • Thanks Jan 😘. Your videos are always such a pleasure to watch, very informative, and well produced. We appreciate your time and effort, expertise, and chilled out approach, giving us the confidence to have a go. So, this is my week to embrace the chop and start again, small. I just wish I could stop checking my cuttings for signs of new roots 🫣

I like the way you pinned the plant to the poles. I’ve always used twine but going to start using pins instead. Great video.
  • Your plants are by far the best I've seen. Love the information x
  • This was the best video i’ve seen about moss poles! Ive learned SO much from this that I will be working on all my moss pole plants today…..Thank you so much
  • @carolstuff
I love moss poles, they take dedication to keep them moist. Thanks for sharing your young plants; looking forward to seeing them in a year.
  • Thoroughly enjoying your videos and learning so much. Have been transferring my philodendrons from coco coir poles which have done nothing for my plants, to your DIY moss poles. In doing so, also changing my soil to a more aerated mix. When repotting I noticed the soil at the base of the pot was very damp...not good! Will be starting some of my smaller plants and cuttings immediately in a better aerated soil and on moss poles right from the start. You have inspired me to go to the next level with my collection...thank you! Cheers!
  • Great pointers and great video! I love this! Starting with small plants is so rewarding and a great way to enjoy the plants journey of growth :-). Thank you for sharing about WREN too :-)!! We need to help the planet! We're all a part of it.
  • 😁 Bei kleinen Pflanzen kann ich mir einreden, dass ich schon noch irgendwo Platz habe.

I planted my first two plants on moss poles today, an adonsonii & a white princess. I’m in Perth so have a couple of months of growing season so I hope to see a few new leaves & roots. A few months ago I had a support worker who deliberately killed most of my favourite plants so I have been a bit depressed. Starting this new project has cheered me up a bit. It’s hard to afford new cuttings of pretty plants when you have a big die off over a short period of time.

Started my moss pole adventure recently after discovering your videos! Waiting for first 3 plants to attach to their poles. Cut up some wires last night and ready to make some new poles tonight.
  • Maybe one day you will be able to get yourself a larger space for you and your beautiful plants then you will have the room. 🤞🤞🤞 Keep up the great work.
  • I always start small because of the prices but can’t wait for them to be lush.
  • Oh Jan, your channel has been so so helpful! I bought a few little plants and put them on moss poles and my monster dubia is starting to reach the pole! I also put my rhaphidophora tetrasperma on one and omg... she didn't miss a beat and started to grow roots inside of the moss pole ASAP and they were growing so fast! I still need to get a hold of the watering situation, but so far so good! Thank you so much for all the information you're sharing!!
