I'm so thankful the ship managed to give an alert in time to stop traffic😓. I feel so awful it wasn't enough time for the workers on the bridge to get off💔.
  • I'm sorry but Human Life is most important. 😢😢❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Seen this soon after it happened due to time difference...still shocked by the footage. Sending love & prayers to Baltimore from South Australia.

Don’t understand why the supports didn’t have protective barriers like the the power poles did just outside the bridge supports do.

If the US President has ordered the Feds to "move heaven and earth" to open the port, I imagine once they verify there are no bodies in the shipping channel section, they will have the Army Corp of Engineers or some federal contractor come in and blow the truss sections into manageable pieces and will haul them away and clear the shipping channel. The rest then can be done at what ever pace it takes. Traffic will be bad for quite a while, but they are going to want to clear that shipping channel ASAP.
  • Shows the need for tugboat escort thru the bridge. No word on bridge pier barriers though the momentum of that huge ship may have overcome them.

Such a national tragedy. Let's hope everyone's still alive!
  • Well, what a relief! Maybe the help and support will be there like it was for the people of Maui. Don’t hold your breath

there is still a risk that the ship will tilt and sink....nobody talks about that

If they could stop traffic, it seems like someone would've given the construction workers a heads up. 😞

Isn’t the ships owners gonna be held responsible?

I heard about it here in California before these ladies did when they were sleeping, and to see the footage of the bridges collapsing, was just horrific and so sad and sad for the people on the bridge and had nowhere to run to for safety. Seeing the work trucks with their flashing lights, I thought, oh no! Please no! The people were there working and I’m sure so scared and it just came down in slow motion. I can’t believe two people survived that huge scary collapse. My heart goes out to the families loss. 🩷

Given the risk of collision no provision was made to protect the piers by surrounding them with rip rap the cost of which in a relative sense is minor.

Impact of a heavy ship under no controll totally dislodged the mighty busy bridge like a toy.
