We're talking about the aftermath of EVGA's decision to depart NVIDIA's partnership, leaving the company without video cards in its product line. This video includes NVIDIA's response (from CEO Jensen Huang), EVGA's open commentary to the community, and discussion on whether anything has changed this past week.

Quick note on margins too: PSU margin industry-wide is 15-20%, so 300% higher than GPU margin puts EVGA in that 15-20% range for PSUs (300% increase over 5% is 20%, as a correction).

  • EVGA replaced a card I had that was out of warranty, during the pandemic lockdowns. Really a life saver and one of the few times I've had a company go above and beyond for me like that.
  • @Tenoreos
I hope EVGA finds themselves back in the gpu market
  • This is exactly why we need AMD and Intel video cards. Nvidia needs to have an alternative that keeps them in check.
  • @LucasStaffel
EVGA is such a great company. I still remember a friend of mine that had an old rig running a 7600GT for years, it died after around 5-6 years running and he reached out to them and they sent him a 9600GT, he didn't even had to pay shipping.

By the way it was already around GTX700 era and we are from fking Brazil, so that really stuck to me!
  • Evga is such a consumer friendly company, so rare in this day and age
  • @TacitG
Nvidia: AIBs are leeches that provide no added value to our products.

Also Nvidia: Actively shuts down any attempt at adding value to their products.

It's worth mentioning that EVGA haven't just been serving the enthusuast market but they also supplied embedded (industrial quality) video cards and also offered some customisations where the order quantities justified it.

If I got laughed at by EVGA, I’d print it and frame it. They’re such a nice company, and they have a habit of not disappointing people. I’m excited to see what they do next.
  • I feel like I owe you a beer for asking EVGA the tough question and getting laughed at.

You took a major arrow for us. I should at least order a mat for that.
  • @W1ldTangent
That note about Nvidia moving the VBIOS development environment online so they could monitor it in real-time is INSANE . And I thought Apple was paranoid... that's some next level distrust of your own so-called partners ...
  • @Mike0193Azul
Evga has fantastic quality control and customer service to back up any mishaps. I hope they stay afloat and prosper beyond this
  • Only reason I'd invest in an intel ARC card is if EVGA made one.
  • @Thulgore
Weird, EVGA has my trust even more now.
  • @corndog9482
Most of the 15 nvidia cards I have owned since the 90s were evga cards. I never had a problem with any of them, except for the one I literally caught fire to myself, which they replaced no questions asked, with a newer, slightly faster card. evga deserves to be in the hall-of-fame of companies, if there ever was such a thing.
  • Apparently there is a leaked conference call (somewhere on the interwebs) between Nvidia and EVGA where they were told they'd have to buy up Nvidia's existing RTX 3000 stock to even be a board partner in the new 40 series.
  • @drewba7741
That was savage for EVGA to go public with that announcement right before Nvidia's keynote. I hope Nvidia faces some fallout for their antics during the cryptocurrency boom, how they treat their AIBs, and their insanity with the 4000 series.
  • @oafkad
EVGA is an incredible company. I hope they do well. They took really good care of me when I was poor and couldn't afford to replace broken parts.
  • @moes2168
Going to miss EVGA's service. I recall I had to file a warranty claim a few years ago. They did not have the card in stock and they asked if I will accept a comparable replacement. They sent me a NEW next generation card at no extra cost. They were very modest about saying "comparable". Since then I've only run EVGA cards.

Service like this is why EVGA's awesome. They will be missed in the GPU space, no doubt about it.
