hearing about the mass layoffs in multiple industries is pretty discouraging. thousands of workers laid off with more skill and experience than me are all looking for work and it makes me, as a recent graduate feel like i don't have a chance

Great video! If anyone is considering going the live teaching route, either in person or online, it is essential to get a public liability insurance for studio sessions and professional indemnity insurance. The business that I taught at was sued by a parent for not enrolling their autistic son, resulting in hefty legal fees and a drawn out battle with the Equal Opportunity Commission. The business folded and the owner had a nervous breakdown. Structure your business to protect your private assets too.

I worked in the animation industry in Los Angeles for 5+ years, up until last year. Work just wasn't consistent enough and I couldn't afford to live in LA anymore. I regret not focusing my efforts more into building my social medias and diversifying income sooner.

BTW, I like the hair highlights. That's kinda cool to have the lighter color under the darker. 😉

Thanks so much for sharing the board! You uploaded this at just the right time!
  • @alyssavandyart
Great video! I am working on alternative routes from the industry, so this was very informative
  • @ChantelleArts
so many fantastic tips, thank you for sharing with us all ☺☺☺

thanks for making this! the amount of layoffs in multiple industries these days has been super unsettling, but an opportune moment to switch to an entrepreneurial mindset :glasses-purple-yellow-diamond: I'm sure these tips will help out so many artists of all levels, and it's really nice and important for people to have someone already making a living from social media to guide us 😭✨

Just what I was thinking this morning! Gonna have to re-watch and take notes but great video!
  • Right on my turn to get a job, the animation and game insdustries simply collapsed! This will be of great value, thank you so much for this content 😍
  • getting commissions is so damn hard these days. ;;w;; you really need a lot of followers to get clients. Even tho my page is full of drawings and portfolio its still hard. maybe i'll go to different route

don't mean to burst anyone's bubble but these ideas are great and all until you realise you don't have a huge enough following to even get to the least time consuming way of earning money. putting yourself out there is one thing, but the social media algorithms are another thing, unless you pay for your ads to be pushed out. (also plus if you're someone who isn't good in teaching, only good in creating art-- cuz good artists ≠ good teacher-- then it's unrelated to some parts of this video sadly) these are just my thoughts after watching through the whole thing lol, do take it with a grain of salt :)

I am .. I don't want to sound like a basement dweller creep, but .. I am in love with your video because as someone who is a visual learner you really get to the point. And girl that hair is CLAPPIN! diggin that 101 Dal vibes you rock it!

As an inspring mangaka whis art evovles at a steady rate. Is it possible to become one in 4 years?

I'm glad you're only mentioning digital products. Cause unfortunately I'm pretty broke to make a hardcopy of my art. 😖 Btw I've been told Etsy keeps record of the taxes on your products that you sold so it makes it easier to file them. 🤔Is that true?
