$215 an hour now I know why I do my own cleaning of both the evap and cons.

You can't stop a Goodman! ;-) That was probably the first time it had ever been cleaned or charged, if that's junk, well... we'll see how long the Trane lasts with that dryer vent blowing it.

I have a goodman that's 22 years old now, zero issues besides one blown capacitor 3 years ago. It's been excellent.
  • @fenceman53
I would think the customer would want the 🍁 leaves out of the bottom. 5 minutes

I have a Goodman and have had it for about 15 years and only had to recharge the system once. I clean it every other year and still works great.

Say what you will about Goodman, They made every other manufacture up their warranty, They were the first ones to have a 10 year warranty. Goodman medium grade unit. Good video.
  • I’ve installed many many Goodman units. Never had an issue. I’ve got some out there that I’ve installed over 20 years ago and they’re still going strong. Ive installed just as many Carriers and I can honestly say that I’ve had more leakers / issues with ICP. Their commercial offerings are complete junk in my opinion. The debate over what brand is the best will always exist. They all have their nuances. I believe the quality of the install is more important than the name on the equipment and I tell my customers that. I stay away from NuBrite. It works well, but it will definitely take paint off of coated coils and also turns galvanized roofs black. I use Cal Clean HD or Tripower. By the way, I would have washed the other one too. 😉 I love your channel, your honesty, knowledge and work ethic. 👍

I put Goodman's in all my 9 rental homes, got rid of the Lennox, Ruud, Rheems, Carriers and the other junk !!!! They were nickel and dime and dollaring me to death !!!!! Blowing caps, fan motors burn up, circuit board every year, leaking here, leaking there, TXV problems....etc.... Now, all I've ever done is change a capacitor or contactor every few years !!!! I swear by Goodman, so easy to fix and don't have to wait weeks for a part from China or some other island in the pacific ocean !!!!!!! Oh, and did I mention I can buy 3 Goodman's for the price of 1 crappy Lennox or Trane !!!!!

HVAC repairs typically cost $75 to $150 per hour. This guy states $215. per hour.

I met you a few years back on the Trane factory tour sat next to you on the bus. I really enjoy these videos and I can assure folks that watch these videos that your a man of the utmost integrity. Your an asset to your community and a trusted servant to your customers. There are a ton of hacks out here and many of them think they are the best at what they do. They may be right, they are great at ripping off the customers. If I were living in your area I would love to work for your company but all I can do is make sure what you practice there is practiced here by my techs as I am in the management field now. Your customers are blessed to have you and your company to service all their HVAC needs. BTW keep riding those HOGS!
  • C'mon man...I enjoy your videos and have learned alot from you. But can you please explain why you did not get the leaves out of the bottom of that unit before you sprayed it? Were talking 2 minutes here to get those leaves out....? There are weep holes stamped into the bottom that allow drainage. I am really surprised you left those leaves in the bottom.
  • Everything you said about customer service and retention is spot on. Glad I don't do AC even though it's stamped on my van!
  • Thank you so much for the video. So many technicians that work for large companies, are too geared for SALE-SALE-SALE, as they make more commissions for every sale. It's Great to see a VERY HONEST technician going through patient and thorough examination and detailed quality service. I learned to use Commerical coil cleaner for a 2 year cleaning, and "Simple Green" brand cleaner every 6 months. My unit is 12 years old and cooled great. I finally changed to Carrier and jumped up 3 more SEER rating to save money down the road.

My dad taught me as a teenager back in the late 70 to clean those every year in the spring before they were needed. we would vac out the leaf buildup and just used a hose with a sprayer on it. then while it was drying he would bring the fan in the garage and put oil in the holes marked oil. that simple yearly maint made it last and almost never had break down beyond a cap or blower motor in the house I do it to my home now as well. The only thing is, the fans don't have oil holes on them anymore. And now they break down a lot more cause you can no longer oil the bearings
  • Honesty is so hard to come by these days, I followed your video, cleaned our evaporator coils that were clogged up and the results were obvious. Simple things that can be done by home owners too to save cost. Good Video and good honest thoughts for the customers ! Please keep going.
  • As a homeowner, really appreciate your videos. This one is same situation we have. Build install dryer vent right next to our outside unit.

Part of the business is building a good reputation & gaining customer trust 👍 Good job! They sure will reach out to you when the time comes to replace that old unit

Got my junky old Goodman coils cleaned…hehehe. Loved your video. Thanks for helping a gal do it herself👍🏻✌🏻If I can do it, anybody can do it. I did need the help of a pry bar to get the cover back on and had to push pretty hard on the final corner of the bottom cage while pulling on the final corner of the cover, but by crackies, I got it! 💪🏻 My A/C guy lives and works by the same principles as you do. He treats his customers right. I didn’t feel the need to call him for this because I wanted to prove to myself that I can do easy maintenance. Plus he just cleaned it last winter. It wasn’t terrible but we’ve had a lot of dust storms and I’m doing fall cleaning anyway.
  • Decided to replace my still working, 17-year-old, 2.5 Ton Rheem with higher efficiency 3 Ton Rheem which paid for itself in about 2.5 yrs with the electricity savings here in South Florida. The original 2.5 Ton only required the replacement of one start capacitor and one condenser contactor during its entire life and required a limited intellect like me to do it. My dear brother went the whole hog and installed a fancy Trane which has required a specialized Trane brand technician four times and is not able to DIY "because of how complicated it is to do so", he says. Also says it even required a laptop to dianose! Feel bad for him as I imagine it's not easy drinking down several cups of that bitter regret-after-purchase brew. He recognizes that Trane is a superior product for superior personal incomes. Like your video and subscribed!

My neighbor has a 2.5 ton Goodman that was installed in the year 2000. She had the same issue but worse including dog hair. I cleaned it for her and then noticed 20% of the cooling fins were totally corroded and gone from where the dog had been urinating on it for years. Put all back together, turned it on and has been running like a champ ever since with no leaks. That was 3 years ago.
