OH THAT EXPLAINS HOW A MOUND MAKER GOT INTO MY GAEL FIGHT (and proceeded to help) frankly i wish mound makers could enter boss arenas (and when they did they wouldnt be able to hit or be hit by the host or any phantoms) that would make them the "forced jolly co-operation" covenant, like a goofy, mad warrior of sunlight

I like how everyone claims this somehow combats gank squads, and says it's likely going to be an unfair fight anyway, despite every host in this video not having phantoms with them.

I can imagine being stuck on the same boss for days, having died hundreds of times, eventually finally starting to get the hang of it. I still die every time but I make it a little bit further with each attempt. A couple of times I get lucky, and get his health down to one or two hits, but I always end up panicking and get killed for being too greedy. Then one night, after playing 4 hours a night for a week, after rage quitting 25 times, I respawn, I run back to the arena, and without thinking I get back into the groove. I've learned all his moves, I know the exact frame to riposte for each move. With sheer luck, and maddened practice, I finally have him where I want him. I have plenty of health, my weapon is buffed, and my estus is almost full. He's winding up for the attack I know how to parry best, I could end this with the audio cue alone. This is it. I can taste the victory on my tongue. That's when I see it. The boss I'm locked into, isn't a boss at all, he has a name above his head. Metallic Fruit... Metallic Fruit. In slow motion, from out of frame, I see the lightning charged sword of the real boss plunging at me. I don't react. As my character winces in pain and falls to the floor in defeat, I quietly place my controller on my desk. And I fade. When the police find me weeks later, they are confused. I look perfectly unharmed. I have a look of complete emptiness on my blue face. It's not until the autopsy the find what happened. My brain had imploded. All in a second it seized and clenched, then all the vessels popped, and my skull filled with the liquid remains of my destructured brain. The video of my murder reaches trending the following day.

See, that's what Abyss Watchers should have been. No heat up, the chief Watcher stays constant, but it keeps summoning invaders and Blues/Darkmoons to fight you/for you.
