I remember watching this LIVE in 6th grade.

In my elementary school, it was played live in several classrooms. Several teachers were married to employees at nasa. I specifically remember Ms Weiss who was inconsolable after the explosion as her husband was the head of an engineering team, one of the last people to give the green light for launch.

Mike from nasa didn’t reflect on how NASA engineers predicted that the shuttle would explode, or comment on the investigations. This was a massive nasa stuff up. Still not owning it NASA?

If honouring and paying tribute to the crew is the priority as nasa says, why not start by being open and honest. These astronauts died because of massive negligence of nasa. Challenger should not have launched that day.
