Is said that our Ego is the part of us that has to live in the world - can take actions, but it's so close to everything it can't see far enough ahead to know which way to go. Our Higher Self is the part of us that can see far and can know what is best for us to do, but cannot act on it without our Ego being an agreement. Without knowing that I can trust myself to protect myself and have good guidance my Ego will fight every step of the way, without trust demanding to be in charge.
