MOST people MISSED this ONE THING about DAVID & GOLIATH!!

When our youngest daughter (27/DS) was born, she had surgery to repair a blockage in her stomach. While she was in the NICU, while sitting next to her crib, I asked God to show me what I need to read in my Bible to give me strength. My bible literally fell open to the story of David and Goliath. In 2014, I started a NPO where I work with individuals with various special needs. It’s called ‘The Village of Triumph’ and our logo is ‘David and Goliath’!!!

My wife and I visited the Valley of Elah back in May. I picked up five small white stones from the creek bed where David picked the stones fir his sling as he was walking to meet Goliath. It was such a blessing to be there and think of the significance of what transpired there.

The record of David's triumph over Goliath is a story I never tire of hearing.

I am not a man, but this is also very powerful, true, encouraging, and helpful for women as well. We, too, need to walk in the Spirit and not fear. Face our obstacles and troubles with the Spirit of God and trust in Him to strengthen us for whatever task lies before us. Thank you for sharing this, Daniel. The part of this story that excites my soul is when David first showed up to drop off supplies his father sent him with. Goliath had been making his mocking challenge for 40 days. The Israeli army was all scared of him but David's immediate response, "...who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?" They were all stuck by fear but David had nothing but a faith in God response to the man who scared all the warriors around him.

This is my first time being on this site, and I am so encouraged by the message, and I am a woman. I shared this with my two grown sons, hoping they will be encouraged to face their giants also. Thank you.

David was a shepherd, and he spent his days protecting the flock. David was proficient with the weapon known as a sling, which many people know about but do not know just how deadly a well placed stone at 250 miles an hour can be. Many people make use of simple primitive weapons such as a sling shot and get extremely good at it, ensuring first shot kills on predators and game. David was such a man.

What some also miss is that David picked up five stones, not because he lacked faith that one stone wasn’t enough to slay Goliath, but in case he also had to face Goliath’s siblings…

Can you imagine what that day would have been like? The lesson I get from this story is not to allow all this fear and such to paralyze us. Know who you are in God and proceed with boldness. I lived many years living in fear, it virtually controlled my life. God taught me to place my trust in Him and know that He would provide everything I needed.

I like when David said “ who is this uncircumcised Philistines that dare Challenge the army of God” I think of that verse a lot when I’m overwhelmed.

From a military point of view, the sling was a powerful weapon, berhaps better than the bow. It was used by many armies through the centuries. David was not a boy playing with a sling, but a warrior well versed in the use of the sling, as it was daily used to protect the flocs from wild animals. An experienced slinger could throw to more than 50 metres with deadly accuracy.

May God save us from fear, because evil can never prevail against what is of God.

Wow. May the enemy flee always in Jesus's Mighty Name.

I was born as my mother intended to name me Greg. Before her death, my mother had the intent to write a short story to each of her children. I never knew I was to be named Greg, but I knew I was born scrawny. Mom said I was beautiful to her, but she knew I was the ugliest baby born. Grandad suggested I name him after that guy that killed the giant. I knew that my name matched David's from the story, but I did not know how I was named until I read this letter after she died. I have faced many giants, especially losing my mother. Thank you for this! My mother was wise!!!

As God's children today we are so blessed. Notice how the Spirit came upon David. And even Samson would shake himself and the Spirit of the Lord would come upon him. But today, through Jesus Christ, as the children of God we have the Spirit IN US not just upon us. Glory to God in Jesus name, Amen.

David also had so much confidence in our heavenly father ❤
