Chapter 2 in the Whip Sword journey. Today I'm making the Karakuri Katana from EAs new videogame Wild Hearts. The blade is a 90cm long san mai construction attached to a 36cm long handle. Extended we're looking at a length of 170cm from tip to pommel. I absolutely love how this project turned out.

Expert Challenge: Find the 3 frames of me T-Posing in this video

That was AWESOME! Incredible talent dude, end result was so worth it!

EA’s deadline for you really reflects the deadlines for their developers
  • I'm not really into the world of Steel, but gotta admire your work , a sword this complicated is no joke

28:26 , I have never related to a sigh more. Massive respect for how you kept your cool, and very proud that you persevered. You created an extraordinary sword!

Damn, for how much talent he has he is severly underrated

Now I know why you didn't post any video for so long! Dude! DUDE!!! So awesome improvement compared to the V 1.0. The broken part was a huge bummer. My suggestion, for all mechanism components use ALWAYS mild steel. It forgeweld very easy and It will stay soft even if you quench it. 3D printer will help you a lot in many things (especially with DIY tools) so it was very good investment. Great work Sven! As always!

I commend you for showing EVERY set back. As a Youtuber, the constant struggles that arise during the making of a video make it hard to keep going and pumping out a finished video but you showed that if you just embrace the failures (and even show them as part of the video) that it is all good content in the end anyway. I will have an easier time getting content out from now on!

I was entranced from start to finish. Intelligent, talented, humourous, honest, creative. This video really has it all. Top marks. I'm very much looking forward to seeing what else comes out of this channel.

Pretty cool that EA sponsered you for this and asked you to make a weapon. Would be cool if more game studios and the like asked you to make replica props for them, or even movie studios asked you to work for them. Maybe the threaded cane from bloodborne could make for a good challenge next?

Classic ea reasonableness. Here have 3 weeks to do this thing that basically nobody has done successfully before. That being said I think this worked out incredibly well. Those interlocking segments seem to be the key to supporting themselves when used as a sword...
  • @alioth2021
That's the best variation of a whip sword so far. It holds up well in both forms.
  • @Atmos_Glitch
Gotta bless those designers for making the sword so... Buildable!
  • @KamuiCosplay
Yay, another Karakuri Katana build! I absolutely love your version and the whip functionality! Mine was focused on the light and sound effects instead. It’s always a pleasure to see other artists creating the same project and seeing their very own take on it! Keep on the awesome work!!! 😊

I really like the tightening ratchet instead of just a pure open-close state mechanism. The rigidity of the collapsed blade now is way above and beyond the first version. Yes, many expert craftsman channels show only perfection as if it worked out on the first try, but I very much appreciate seeing progress, improvement and learning instead.
  • That katana is a real beauty! All that hard work finally paid off and Amazing job for forging it!
  • Amazing work! This is a huge step forward in functionality from the first version! Looking forward to the next.

My fav blacksmith. If we compare equipment with other youtube blacksmiths...you may be lacking a lot but in talent you are way ahead of others. I can already see a huge improvement from whip sword v 1. Can only imagine what v 5 would look like when you'll have much better tools and machines to make your work easier and focus more on ingenuity. You have your own unique style...love it. Keep up the good work brother.

Watching your videos gives me the same vibe as being invited to a friends house to be shown something cool, its a very good feeling.

This was amazing from the beginning until the end. Never thought, that a sword making video would keep me glued to my screen for half an hour. The overall project including all your fails and mistakes was very ambitious, but I guess also very rewarding after you finished it. Kudos to you Sir, you are for sure a master of your craft!
