Hawkins, Texas is at the center of controversy here for their "Jesus Welcomes You" sign on the edge of town. The sign, a survey has found, sits on public property and thus violates the Establishment Clause of the Constitution.
At the town's monthly city council meeting, citizens are allowed time to speak. I drove the two hours to stand up for the citizens of Hawkins that had alerted the Freedom From Religion Foundation about the sign.
I was the only atheist to speak and was not given my full five minutes. In a separate upload, I will include all the remarks during and after my presentation. I can assure you they are entertaining.
