  • Unthinkable, unspeakable. What a hero to survive to tell the world.
  • Thank you Eva, for sharing your story. That was very painful for you to re-live. You are a brave and wonderful person. Never forget.

I will never forget that little girl, crying for this lady. It ripped my heart out.
  • It will never cease to amaze me the level of cruelty people are capable of. Anyone who thinks people are inherently good needs to think again.

It really is unimaginable what they endured. Man's biggest threat was always man. This must never be forgotten. May they rest in peace.
  • Listening to all these the Holocaust survivors' stories, I could say that the Europeans were envious because of Jewish tradition to keep their big families close, their solidarity, their education, their hardworking mentality, their capability to cope with any situation, their wealthy, their warm, clean houses, their delicious dishes, their strong awareness if their identity. All these Europeans have never had!
  • Oh this poor woman! I pray God has his loving arms around her. 🙏🙏🙏

For all of the trauma she has lived through she's sharp as a tack.Such a strong woman emotionally and intellectually.

All of the stories are so very sad but this lady's testimony was very special. Such a lovely warm person who went through such tragedy as a child and came through to be a thoroughly decent human being; not twisted by the cruelty she witnessed and experienced. I don't know how else to explain but I hear the child she was - her innocence, bewilderment, grief and fear. A truly remarkable person, indeed. It was an honour to listen!
  • My heart absolutely breaks for this lady who is still carrying so much pain and guilt god bless you Eva xx

My poor mother was also from Carpto-Rus and Mrs. Slomovitz's childhood in the early-war years sounds so similar. Their fathers were both so dignified and were both friends with the school principal and they were both handy, refined, and educated, and at the same time so down to earth to get along with everyone. The same experiences with the Czechs, Ukranians, and the Hungarians. Also, if someone was taken away and managed to get back, they had to lay low not to be discovered or they would be taken away again (or worse).
