Excellent work Calvin👍 I can now see why you're the 'Spokesperson' for ParkTool😀
  • @GeekonaBike
I'll be staying w/ stainless steel spoke be they straight pull or J-bend
  • @jp93309
Looks easier than I imagined it would be. Thanks Calvin!

Good stuff. I9 recommends boiled linseed oil for the prep, not thread locker.
  • @paisfr
Bonjour mon cher ami Calvin 😊 Thank you very much 👋😊
  • @WowRixter
A little off topic, but do you know a good spoke calculator for straight pull spokes? I've looked online and not much info, where as Calvinpedia always seems to deliver ;-)
  • @winerrider
Do you tension these just from the rim end, or from rim and using the hub-end hex? Avoiding wind-up?
  • @1988howie
It's okay to use threadlocker in the spokes? Thank you
  • @louwn
Did this spoke break due to the chain grabbing it with a outer link due to the derailleur getting hit and bending the derailleurhanger way pass the b-tension setting allowing the cain to drop past lagest cog on the casette and so grab the spoke with a outer plate?
  • @tompoe27258
Did the cassette have to be removed, or was it removed just for recording the video?
  • @teminder
i wonder y calvin didn't use the wheel holder (cant remenber the right name of that tool, mounted at the desk) while he inserted the spoke into the rim. isn't it usefull for such jobs rather then having the wheel oldfashen wobbeling at the desk? maybe he's use to his habits when he was wheeling rims back in the days. i like your tech tuesdays, never miss greetings from germany
  • @jeffross6091
So if the patch does not hold ( yes, i saw the comment that it did) would you just retape the entire wheel?
  • @MaQuGo119
Does this system has benefits? or is it only for them to charge more?
  • @denesk2794
Hmm, I always just add a full loop of rim tape. Better safe than sorry. Also it usually helps with seating the tire. Manufacturers are so cheap, I had several wheels (DT swiss, i9 and Race face) start to leak because the single layer just fails at the spokes. So to begin with, I always do 2 layers.. Tape is cheap, tires and rims are expensive and sometimes by the time you realise you lost pressure, you already ripped the tire and dinged your rim too :(
