We need more of these videos of JB history.
  • Skate Key 1980's Bronx, N.Y. here. My wife (may she RIP) was an excellent skater, and I tried keeping up. Now my knees aren't what they used to be but I won't give up skating. Love this video and how styles are developed.

Im in ATL but im from the south side l miss my 70s 80s JB skating nobody can touch chi-Town skating
  • I love The Rink skaters they are always willing to assist the young kids.  The adults & teens jam on the rink.  When my grandson visits in the summer he wants to go to The Rink.  JB moves makes a non-skater like me dance & shout!
  • Im in The chicago area now and when i was little we'd pratice at the white roller rinks then did our routine smoothly at the rink. But the new school be doing extra. Now back to the practice floor. Lol Chicago love

And THAT folks is where I grew up skating. The locals referred to it as "Da Rink". LOL! Good times... Great memories! Thanks for sharing and stay healthy.

When I was like 14 in the late 80's some dude (at least in his 60's by now) showed up at my rink skating JB and that influence caught fire with me instantly. I already had people coming up to me telling me I was the best skater at our rink and in the next town... but that JB consumed my imagination and flow instantly. It was like something long lost was found, it all just fit and made sense and made my imagination go on forever with more possibilities. I was doing crazy stuff! I never knew there was a name or history to those moves. My rink was about 1.5 hours north of Chicago, and that's my little story of how I was influenced by the JB moves.
