Stevie gets the spot light obviously but his drummer and bass player are steady as a fucking boulder. Hats off to double trouble!!!

He plays behind his back for damn near half the set, breaks the third string (actually, it was the fourth string, thank you SpikeyTarantula) near the end, keeps playing, then takes the guitar off, puts it on the ground, flips it around, and keeps producing some of the most awesome sounds ever generated from an axe. There are people who play the guitar, and then there are those who WIELD a guitar. And Stevie Ray Vaughan was, hands down, one of the best to ever wield a guitar. Rest in peace, S.R.V., and thank you.

That was barely human. The dude was from another planet.
  • No artist covered another artist the way Stevie Ray Vaughan covered Jimi Hendrix. He found the same wavelength that Jimi discovered and he did Jimi complete justice. Nothing but absolute respect.

This man is the greatest guitar player of all time. No question. Period.

Stevie made a deal with the Devil don’t know what Stevie got but the Devil got guitar lessons. SRV is the G.O.A.T.

Imagine if Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughn had an axe battle
  • @runthejudes
Stevie is totally kickass, but I'm glad the amazing drummer is getting some recognition in the comments.

I don't care what you listen to, if you love music, then you've got to love Stevie Ray Vaughn.
  • @Beeker0420
He played half the song with the guitar behind his back...broke a string towards the end...and it was all effortless! HE'S A GUITAR GOD!
  • 30 years later, you are continuing to inspire musicians. Your music will always be kept alive. R.I.P. Legend
  • @Danandvikki1
Plays behind back + breaks strings + acknowledges band + snake charms guitar + remembers Jerry’s Kids = GOAT
  • Love that he plays with his eyes closed in this. You can tell the amount of love and passion he had for his craft. Truly legendary

RIP Jimi Hendrix (November 27, 1942 – September 18, 1970), aged 27 And RIP Stevie Ray Vaughan (October 3, 1954 – August 27, 1990), aged 35 You both will always be remembered as legends.

If Jimi had made it another 20 years, wouldn't it have been badass to see the two of them on stage together tearing that song up?
  • Joe Satriani said of this song: "It's just the greatest piece of electric guitar work ever recorded. In fact, the whole song could be considered the holy grail of guitar expression and technique. It is a beacon of humanity." Santriani said that about the original by Hendrix. For me, SRV is the only one who has come close to the true spirit of the original and whose is the only other version I'll listen to. No stupid 'who played it better' comments, please. This is homage, not a competition.

The man who inspired me to pick up the guitar again. I owe everything to this legend, I play guitar and will continue to play his music for as long as I live.
