In Halo Reach there are actually quite a few secret vehicles, some obvious and some you would probably never have thought were vehicles. These vehicles normally can't be driven but let's take a look and drive them anyways!

9:00 "noble 6, do you mind telling me why you're on the wall?" "Sir, Curity camera."

Interior Security Camera: What is my purpose? Bungie: To honk when you see intruders.
  • If these turrets were added to forge, people would go ham with them.
  • 4:12 fun fact: the Missile Battery seen on Exodus was meant to be a fully functioning vehicle. It's referenced in the generic.character tag and the turret_base_large tag even has a variant for it, referencing the missing vehicle tag. It can really easily be setup to work again with the only real missing thing being the fx and a marker called turret_g_enter which is used by the Scythe Anti Air Cannon. Also the reason why the trailers are vehicles is so that the tires can spin.

The cameras are vehicles because they couldn't figure out how to make cameras in the engine, so instead it's a turret that points at you and tries to shoot you but it has no bullets. The other camera with the horn was probably them testing putting an alarm on a camera, so when the ai tried to shoot you, it would just sound an alarm instead. Just a guess on the second camera
  • I never realized how much bigger the Space Phantom is as compared to the standard Phantom and it's super cool to see them both at once.

“This security cam has a built in weapon” “It’s a warthog horn.” That got a laugh out of me 😂

I love how the rhythm of the anti-air canon syncs with the music in Long Night of Solace
  • I'm still curious as to why the spirit can't be destroyed lol and why they never let us fly pelicans and phantom in multiplayer

It's interesting how you're never sure which view you're getting when you enter a "secret" vehicle, whether it's first or third person. I imagine there is a way to adjust this manually as well.

The space phantom looks like it's wearing headphones

This is so amazing, Reach is one of my favorite halo games and seeing all these vehicles just brings back memories of me as a kid trying to drive them. I remember back then being so impressed with the pelican turret glitch in long night of solace and thought that was the coolest turret
  • Dude I’m just sitting here imagining the multiplayer capabilities.

Just in case anyone is thinking about purchasing those dream glasses they’re starting price for the previous model is $619. Pretty ridiculous when you think about the fact that you can get a 75” 4K Smart TV for that price on eBay brand new!!

Man I would love mp game modes relying on those vehicles mechanics. 1) A two teams fight that is split between three islands you can only reach by flying vehicles, and the number of single place vehicles is limited so you are bound to use pelicans and phantoms to transport some of the players from island to island 2) An asymetric "space" battle in which one of the teams is on the defence of a corvette/frigate and the other team is trying to blow it up (or commandeer it). The big ship could even be in atmosphere and the team on the offence has an AA canon the defensive team must destroy 3) A symmetrical space battle in which each team is given a big ship, wich is the only in game map. The two ships, and the emptiness of space, and then you try to board the other ship or destroy it...

I love that GeneralHeed always has something new I never knew.
  • Can’t wait for workshop support. I can definitely see all these being used
