Oh and btw, the Miata is NOT an over rated car. It gets spoken about postively because it is a great driving car.
  • Thanks for the update on Frank. I know we only just met him, but I feel like we'd known him for years. đŸ˜Ș RIP Frank. 🕊

I drove a 1995 Miata that I bought brand new when I was living in Miami Beach. I remember I paid $198.95 a month. Best little car I ever owned. White with black interior, and speakers in the headrests.. Never had a moment's trouble. Riding around in high gear, drop shifting and take off! I miss that car!! Whenever I visited my mother, she used to say that it spruced up the neighborhood. I miss that car!! 3 years of fun in the sun!! Today they call them the MX-5

When a vehicle sits the valves and rings may be rusted or stuck so compression may be low. Sometimes squirting some oil in the spark plug holes will help seal the rings and bring up compression. Cool little car!

Who ever repainted that car did an awesome job. The bottom of sections the doors and the rocker panels had an orange peel finish from the factory. Yes Mazda still makes the car. It is the most successful sports car in the history of cars. I currently own a 2023 MX-5. I'm currently rebuilding the engine in a 95 MX-5 that sat for many years. The coolant became rusty water and the engine block has to be boiled. Nice work guys!

The OEM seven spoke "daisy" wheels are a very popular option on these first gen Miatas. You're mistaken about there not being affordable cars that are rear wheel drive. The Toyota 86/Subaru BRZ is rear wheel drive and in its second generation now. Affordable, four cylinder, rear wheel drive, and like the Miata, is also Japanese (no ragtop though, sorry). Checks all of those boxes. Jason Camissa recently did a video on these cars on the Hagerty channel and the video features the NA Miata's original creator too. Definitely worth watching.

You should show removing the wheels and cleaning the inside of the rims and brakes. Also the intake vents and cabin air filter areas where critters like to nest. The areas that no other channels seem to show. I dont know if you have to keep your videos within a certain time frame but the more detail the better. Teaches everyone what to look for and how to do a complete job. Thanks, keep up the great work

You boys are amazing role models for the value of extra effort and never cutting corners. More vintage Mustangs/Shelbys, please! :)
  • i bought a 2001 Miata soft top convertible, from an elderly woman who bought it originally with her husband, who by them had been deceased for 10 years. She stored it every winter and drove it only in the summer and fall and it was in mint condition with only 15,000km (up here in Canada). It was this beautiful light blue/purple hew colour and I paid $10,000 dollars for it and then sold it 3 years later for the same amount.Would only sell it to someone who LOVED the car and would not drive it in the winter...pinky promise....I wonder today how the car is doing. You guys did an awesome job on this miata and that girl will just fall in love with it all over again. GUARANTEED !!
  • plane towing a glider. I actually fly gliders here in ks quite fun!

Thank for these consistent Saturday uploads! Genuinely look forward to them every time! You guys rock!
  • Wow, this car looks brand new! Really impressed with your restoration skills!
  • "If at first you don't succeed try, try and try again." Robert the Bruce, king of Scotland, is meant to have told his troops this shortly before walloping the English at Bannockburn in 1314. Whilst sitting in a cave watching a spider try to build a web. Its determination inspired him and subsequently his army. Great videos guys. Would love to see you all come to Scotland.

I'm a mechanic. My first instinct was the issue is a timing issue. The engine is good, the car is worth investing in to repair it. Have a mobile mechanic or toll the vehicle to a shop to check engine light codes. Inspect timing related parts such as crankshaft sensor, camshaft sensor and finally the actual timing and timing belt.
