❌Breakage is not normal ❌

✅Shed hair can be normal so long as it is not excessive ✅

If you cannot see the hair root/bulb (looks like a white bulb at the top of the hair shaft) the hair has broken mid way.

To stop excessive breakage try this custom detangling routine that takes into consideration the fragile nature of our hair:

🌱Section hair into at least 4 -prevents
overwhelm and will allow you to better handle knots!
🌱Saturate with water - this will moisturise your hair and make it a lot easier to manage( dry afro hair is even more fragile!)
🌱Apply @OminiraNaturals “Tangle Slayer” liberally to your strands root to tip - this extreme slip detangling conditioner will soften your hair so it feels like silk, glides through your fingers; cutting your detangling time by half and eradicate unnecessary breakage.
🌱Finger detangle gently - your fingers are the best thing when it comes to your hair, combs are great but always use your hands first! Work in even smaller sections to gently remove the knots, TAKE YOUR TIME! The purpose of a comb/brush is not REALLY to detangle hair, it is to REMOVE shed hair. Finger detangle first ALWAYS.
🌱Rewet each individual smaller section to reactivate the conditioner this is important.
🌱Cut out any single strand knots (SSKs) with a pair of hair scissors/shears (not kitchen scissors!) - this will prevent you from trying to comb through them and cause further breakage.
🌱DO NOT OVER-DETANGLE - Our hair type is naturally intertwined and prone to tangles so it is impossible to remove every single one in its entirety. Have you noticed that as soon as you remove tangles, a few new ones form? So don’t stress yourself, work to get your hair to a point where it is a lot more manageable (no deep rooted knots) and leave it there. There is no need to try to get a comb through it snag free every time like typical straight hair, that is just something our hair can never achieve (and that’s ok!)
🌱Only detangle when ABSOLUTELY necessary - typically only on wash days to prevent over manipulation. The less manipulation, the better.

⚡️BONUS TIPS⚡️
✨If you have High Porosity hair, try to do a PRE-POO with oil for a few hours or over night. This will protect your fragile hair and prevent protein loss in the wash day process
✨When taking down protective styles like
braids/twists there will be a-lot of build up, so gently finger detangle each and every braided/twisted section BEFORE you wet your hair. If you apply water on hair like this it will matt up and cause further breakage.
✨If your hair is tangling unnecessarily and more than usual, it could be a sign you need a trim, don’t avoid these without proper trims your hair could split all the way up to your scalp and be rendered usless!

I wouldn’t know how to act if my hair was like this
  • Thank you 4 the Tutorial on "How to use these brushes correctly." Finally.
  • Thank you for finally saying hair should be wet and have conditioner in it when deranging. I’m so sick of hearing ppl say “don’t detangle hair when wet”!!!
  • I stopped using my brush because my hair was breaking, thanks for showing me how to us it.😊
  • Yooo I always use it vertically because it’s easier on my hair… horizontally is just as hard as trying to get a comb thru it
  • @waitwhat6056
Yep, I have that brush and always start vertically and only move to horizontal once it's fully detangled.
  • Yeah I never ever detangle it without loads and loads of conditioner!! And when it's wet!! Thanks for the tip for the brush will try that way
  • @CC-pu6qn
I have noticed vertically I shed less but have been lazy. Thank you sis, never again!
  • @JaiK64
Girl I have two of those brushes that's been sitting in the same spot for two years. I did not like they way they felt at all. Seeing you use them vertically though 🤯 I'll be pulling one out out next wash day for sure.
  • @geminienergy
I have long hair and I detangle vertically. People can take it or leave it.
  • @MetalMama1986
I'm always amazed watching black hair videos. I love them. Black hair is so beautiful. I love watching how you all care for and style your hair, whether it's a wig install or silk press, or valuable info, like in this video. I love it all❤.
  • @DarleneNicks
I’m just here for the final hair sway. Come through with the beautiful natural textured hair.

Thank you for saying and showing that shedding is NORMAL. People act so crazy at a little shedding loss. It is ok!
