While I do agree the hook sounds familiar to other pop songs, I don't see how anyone can hate this track. Purely from a technical perspective, the production on this one is amazing. The song slaps with headphones on in particular. And as they said in the video, it has nice change ups and instrumentals. From a 21 Pilots perspective, I also think this is a major return to form. I'm with Fantano in that I really did not like their last LP. My only critique is that yeah "Welcome back to Trench" is a bit cheesy and on the nose. But the reality is, the band has put a lot of effort into the story and "lore", and their fandom is heavily invested. While I am a big fan of their music, I could care less about the story or themes. So yeah i thnk that intro call back might not land the same way it would with the fandom. Which is fine. But yeah overall killer track. Really liking the sound they are going with.
