This game plays very well considering it was made in the 1930s
  • I'm sure everyone still remembers when "journalists" said this game was bad because they couldn't get through the tutorial. This game is just goated.

I still can't get how Cuphead took years of work and details but is only 20 dollars compared to triple A games that are pumping out mediocre games for 60 dollars

Honestly the fact that the two brothers Chad and Jared Moldenhaur were so dedicated to the project that they quit their day jobs and remortgage their houses just to finish the game only for the game to be a walloping financial success is nothing short of amazing. They were aware of the slim chance of their game not succeeding but they didn't care anyway and Cuphead came out to world wide acclaim singing it's praises with its tough as nails game play, beautiful traditional hand drawn animation, a rocking authentic jazz orchestrated soundtrack and watercolor backgrounds and it's completely deserving of said praise. It went platinum (sold 1 Million copies) within the first 2 weeks of it relasing and by the middle of 2018 it tripled, it won 3 Guinness World Records, 15 awards, has had countless of merchandise ranging from Plushies to Action Figues, Books, Graphic Novels, CDs/Vinyl Records, a mii costume in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate and even a fucking Netflix series coming out this year. On top of all that the fabled DLC that's been in development since 2018 has is finally coming out on June 30th 2022 so you already know it's gonna make cuphead even more popular in conjunction with the Netflix series. Needless to say Cuphead has become an absolute indie juggernaut and one of my personal favorite video games not only to comeout within last decade but of all time and I'm so excited to see what StudioMDHR has to do with not only Cuphead but any future projects they have lined up in the future.

This game’s art style makes it even more nostalgic when the years go by, hopefully this game will be remembered for a long time.
  • I still can't believe this game is animated frame-by-frame with hand-drawn, freaking insane.
  • @undonesolid1511
38 frames for 5 seconds, imagine drawing the same character 38 times doing different things for 5 seconds. The developers didn’t make a game, they made art.
  • @chiefusq
Cant believe he did this all in one try, absolutely phenomenal gameplay

Cuphead even as big as it was at one point is still under appreciated. Every animation was hand drawn, the music fully orchestrated, and it looks and sounds exceptional because of it. It will take a lot for any game to come even close to the perfect stylisation in this game.

The run and guns were actually a late decision to add. It was originally just bosses. I can't remember where in development they decided to add the run and guns, but it makes sense the bosses are better designed since that's what the devs planned right from the start.

This game was so much more brutal than it needed to be. Devs must have wanted players to feel the pain that they felt spending hours and hours drawing everything by hand.
  • Cuphead is a monument in gaming history, and it's recognition in Smash was well deserved.

Charlie: "now we just do everything perfect again" Narrator: "he did not do everything perfect again"
  • @tzuki6249
This is why graphics are temporary and art is forever.
  • I just only realised how old this game is. As of now, it's been more than 4 years since its initial release. Why does it feel like just a year or two ago lmao
  • @armyofpoo9297
It's really cool watching you play this again man. Me and my dad used to watch your old streams of this game on repeat. He passed away recently and now I watch them with his ashes. I'm gonna beat this game for him
  • @Menacinggg
I studied game development and design for 3 years, and in my first year some of the first animation work i did were sprite sheets. This game seriously is a masterpiece. The amount of time and work that went into making just the animations alone is insane.

Charlie: Jumps into the flamethrower Also Charlie: "The ult got me killed"
  • @helioghostt
not enough people talk about how absolutely fucking amazing the music in this game is
  • @Pu1seMusic
Don't worry Charlie, you'll never be as bad as that one journo that couldn't even beat the jumping tutorial.
