Denver International Airport is shrouded in secrecy, riddled with weird statues and creepy art, and is a place of strange stories and myths. People even question why DEN airport was built in the first place.

The current airport opened in 1995, but there was a fully functioning one closer to downtown. This new version is twice the size of Manhattan, and the development went $2 billion over budget!

But even before the current Denver International Airport opened, it was the subject of countless conspiracy theories. Is there any truth behind the rumors?

I have lived in Colorado for almost my entire life, and one of my favorite things about the DIA is that lately when three is construction, they put up signs about staying back as too not disturb the lizard people, and hearing the little kids then trying to sneak around and find the lizard people

"But the airport just isn't set up right for gassing people." How would you set that up? Asking for a friend.

I've lived in colorado my whole life and I've never heard anybody call it den airport

Coming from a Denver Local, there are a few things that need to be addressed. Every one refers to this airport as DIA(for short). Also, there are definitely several levels below the surface; and past sub level 2 I heard pretty much everything is restricted access to even the employees(my parents used to work here). The main idea for the tunnels (we Coloradans believe) is that there is a tunnel system that leads to NORAD. Why? There is a large Aerospace presence in Colorado. NORAD and Cheyenne mountain are very secure places where high officials could seek shelter, hence the tunnels from the airport to the bunkers. Anyways, the Bronco statue is no doubt creepy, especially at night. And the art seen is not as bad as depicted. Overall its one of the less confusing airports (unlike LAX) and has a great layout. The big tents on top represent the snow capped mountains across Colorado. There ya go.

First of all, I use that airport all the time, and no one calls it the "Den airport". Second, the scariest thing there isn't the statue or conspiracies, it's how long it takes to get on a plane.
  • They also used to have artwork that said "The fat lady has sung", as in "It ain't over until the fat lady has sung". Creepy. I also worked with the son of the guy who measured the excavation dirt from DIA; allegedly it was way more than was cleared. Allegedly he was his son. Allegedly I worked with him.

We do not call it "DEN Airport." It's always called "DIA"

Damn! What happened to the animation? Looks much more advanced.

Animation really really improved... even thought it was very good before
  • I’ve lived in Colorado my whole life, and as a little kid I was always love the train ride. Until when I got older and saw how many doors and pathways you see. It goes to A, B, C, Gates and Baggage Claim. There’s definitely more than 4 ways the train goes. I can’t explain that

My friends and I went on a exploratory roadtrip in 2014. We decided to stop in at the Denver Airport just to check it out. We didn't really do anything to draw attention to ourselves. It seemed 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘭𝘺 normal, but out of the corners of our eyes we saw employees of the airport watching us constantly... would even see a couple of them speaking to each other while making sure not to let us too far out of their sights. It was a very strange experience.

I don't know why but the animations sometimes made me feel dizzy

I’ve been to the Denver airport, the only thing that’s ever happened to me is I got food poisoning at a dominoes.
