The sounds from this battle sound like are straight from a sci fi horror movie space battle from hell. Just put on some headphones and listen. It is truly a masterpiece. Well done dispatching him. I have not won and encounter yet and barely escaped a few.

The ambiance and sound engineering alone are superb. But the music is incredible! I have my gripes with fDev but God damn did they get as close to perfection as possible with sound design.

In the 1980s Elite, I used to purposefully jump from star system to star system because there was something like 1 in 20 chance you'd get intercepted by the Thargons. I'd focus all effort on the Thargon mothership because once that's destroyed, the Thargoid fighters would be disabled and you could collect them via your fuel scoop and sell the "alien artefacts" for a small fortune. It was the best way to make money in the original version.

Imagine being that Thargoid. You just get done scanning this dead helpless ship. All of a sudden it springs back into life, pulls right up to your cockpit window, and flips on its brights, before slowly backing away and bathing your entire ship in cold, white light. Then it opens fire.
