BoundWorlds: Builder Shop Features

Published 2021-03-24
Since a significant number of playtesters have reported being overwhelmed by the World Editor's vast number of options, I have added a system that unlocks the more advanced options gradually, over time.

As this feature is still largely experimental, I have also added a cheat to bypass it. To access this cheat and other information, updates, and discussions about BoundWorlds, join the BoundWorlds Discord!

That looks cool. It’s truly impressive what you’ve been able to make. While I don’t personally have much of an interest in this (I’m far more interesting in your Mario Dwarf Fortress mod), I want this project to be a success. Once it gets to a point where all the basics are done, and it has somewhat of a following you should go around to different YouTubers who cover indie games and have them talk about it. That will give you some publicity. Will this ever get a Steam release, or is it just available through your Discord server? That way people will be able to wishlist the game for later. Does your Patreon also go to you working on the Dwarf Fortress Mario mod, or just this? Next time you update the mod you should do a video that talks about what’s new, and what has been changed. I really like how the mod mixes the gritty realism of Dwarf Fortress with the cutesy stuff from Mario (sure there’s the occasional dark undertones, but those aren’t as prevalent in recent games). Plus, it raises some ethically disturbing questions in regards to how the Yoshis are part of society. Are there any plans for more playable races in Fortress mode, or not really since the others aren’t as fleshed out and you wouldn’t be able to make their gameplay as unique? I wish you luck!

With the recent Steam release for Dwarf Fortress do you think that you might update the mod and put it on Steam Workshop? Or did you lose motivation for the project and are busy with this game and your other stuff? I’m guessing it would probably be an insane amount of work to create the graphics for all the different items, block, and mobs in the mod. I haven’t tried to make graphics so I don’t know how much work it is. Luckily it wouldn’t be nearly as time consuming as creating a bunch of 3D models and animating them. Hopefully more people spot this game and play it. Based on the tutorials and other things you’ve shown off it looks like all kinds of cool things could be made in it. I really hope that working on this game is fulfilling for you. Good luck on what you do next in real life and on your next project.

So how is your new simulation project going? I decided to post my comment here because YouTube autohide my other one because of the subject matter. Hopefully it’s coming along nicely. Based on your previous work I’m sure it will be cool. Good luck on it.
