In Hollow Knight there are several choices that you can only make once per save game file. In this video I will let you know all of the things that you can only do once per save game file.

1. To save Zote or Not to save Zote:
If you do NOT save Zote in Greenpath before acquiring the Mantis Claw, he will die in this location and you will get the Neglected Achievement. You will also not have to fight Zote in the Pantheon of the Sage (P3).

If you save Zote, in Greenpath he will later need to be saved in Deepnest. Lastly Zote will show up and be an enemy in the first Trial of the Warrior in the Coliseum of Fools. Beating him will reward the player with the 'Rivalry' achievement.

Once the player has saved Zote in the Coliseum and Bretta the player also needs to have the Monarch Wings in order for a basement in Bretta's house to open. A fight with Zote starts by striking the statue in Bretta's basement with the Dream Nail. By winning you will receive the Dark Romance achievement.

2. To Kill the Nailsmith or Let him Live
First thing you need to do it collect all the pale ore in the game and upgrade your nail to the pure nail:    • Hollow Knight- Pale Ore Location Guid...

After upgrading to a pure nail the nailsmith will leave his hut and asked to be cut down. If you go with his wishes you will get the Pure achievement.

If you let the Nailsmith live, you will get the Happy Couple achievement after visiting Nailmaster Sheo. Below is a video on all of that specifically:   • Hollow Knight- Don't Kill the Nailsmith!

3. Let Cloth Live or Pass away.
If you do not find cloth in two locations before fighting the Traitor lord in the Queens Garden, Cloth will show up in Dirtmouth (after you find her) and live on.

If you find cloth in the Fungal Wastes and to the left of the Abyss tram station THEN fight the traitor lord, Cloth will help you fight the Mantis lord but will be killed in the process.

There is no achievement related to this.

4. To banish NKG or Fight
First you need to activate the Grimm Toroupe here:    • Hollow Knight Grimm Troupe DLC- Where...

From there you will need to activate the grim child charm and fight grimm. After that you can chose to power up the Gimm Child charm further and FIght NKG for the Ritual Achievement.
eee
OR you can banish NKG for the Banishment Achievement

“If you don’t like hearing Zote grumble, you don’t have to hear it. You don’t have to hear it ever again. “

NO, the real tough choise is when you have 1 charm notch left and there's two options Wayward compass OR Gathering swarm
  • @a.b.5983
you forgot, the hardest choice is standing back up after sitting with quirrel
  • @raegan3519
I saved him because I decided to be nice. this is why my life is so damn hard.
  • Call me a bad person but I feel like bringing cloth to the traitor lord is the better choice. She wanted to be brave, she wanted to fight a strong enemy, but when you choose to save her she is just sad because she never accomplished her goals, besides you can talk to her in a ghost form and she is just as happy as ever that she overcame her fears and defeated a strong foe!

I didn't notice Zote and saw his corpse and thought it was one of those vessel corpses you see every where

Killing Zote is a tough one... on the one hand: you kill another conscious being unnecessarily, on the other hand, you kill Zote
  • I never met Cloth because when I saw her emerging from the ground in Fungal Waste I thought "Oh sheet, an optional miniboss, let's run from here."

In defense of letting Cloth die, she seems pretty satisfied with herself. Plus how the fight ends is worth it.

I mean, Zote is an idiot. But he made me laugh so hard when I fought him in the Colosseum. For me, that was worth letting him live.
  • I'm no big fan of Zote, but seeing his lifeless corpse there and knowing that you were witnessing his desperate moment and you didn't do anything is...extremely unsettling.
  • bruh i didn’t even see him struggle I just heard screaming and I didn’t mind it
  • God, this game is ridiculously deep. An hour in I thought "meh, seems a bit one dimensional". Boy was i wrong.

I'll never forget giving the nailsmith the peace he desired to then find out he could've lived on to find a beautiful friendship with the paintmaster :'(
  • Me after seeing all of the decisions I didn’t know existed: I have seen the errors in my ways

I killed the Nailsmith bc I had no idea it was possible to spare him. Started a new game just to not kill him.
  • @foreignwun8585
I honestly prefer the ending where cloth is killed by the Traitor Lord, cause what she wanted was to be with Nola again. And she is in the dream realm
  • During my first playthrough, I just accidentally killed the nailsmith... I didn't even talked to him.. I didn't knew you can kill him... I was just swinging my nail after the upgrade like I do after getting a nail art.. Lets just say I was sad for a couple of days

It's true, I didn't recognize that a lot of these were choices you could even make. When Cloth joined me for the Traitor Lord battle, I still remember how happy and inspired it made me feel. It felt awesome to be fighting alongside a friend for once, and I was so proud of her for overcoming her fear. When the Traitor Lord struck the fatal blow against her, it actually made me tear up, and I considered going back to my last save point to see if it was possible to save her. But then I left the room, entered again, and talked to her ghost. And she was so ecstatic about what she'd done, it made me smile all over again. Now that I know what the alternative is, I think I'll deliberately make that same choice again, whenever I next visit this game.
