I recently had the chance to interview Sam, his wife, his dad, and his daughter. Sam has been living in Taiwan for nearly 10 years working in the semiconductor industry. Before he lived here he was in Germany and China. When he had the chance to become a citizen in Taiwan, he gave up the chance to immigrate to Canada or the US, a decision that his friends and family thought was crazy. He met his wife Jane in Taiwan, a woman from the Philippines working in a factory at the time. They got married and had a daughter, Zara. Unfortunately, she was born a month after Sam got citizenship, which forces Zara to be legally a foreigner in the country she was born in, until she's 18 when she can renounce her Filipino citizenship and become Taiwanese. Thus, Sam hopes that the Taiwanese government can amend renunciation rules around naturalizing in Taiwan. He believes that this will attract more foreign professionals to Taiwan, which will have a positive impact on the country in terms of economic development and filling in labor shortages. However, he understands that some people might think this might be a burden on the already strained healthcare system, especially because foreign professionals will bring their aging parents to Taiwan. In Sam's case, he needs to look after his aging mother and father, but they can't legally stay in the country for more than a year due to visa issues. If this problem continues, Sam might have to relocate and take his talent elsewhere. Thus, Sam thinks that Taiwan should ask itself if it wants to attracting talent on the same scale as other countries in Asia. If it does then, Sam thinks Taiwan's laws could change to reflect this desire because talent needs to have their families with them when living abroad.

很棒的訪談。這個議題最近非常熱，真的外國人規劃台灣籍要一視同仁，不應該中國人民有特權。

Nice interview！ 這才是台灣需要的人才。可以感受到 Sam 很愛台灣。因不公平的依親限制，讓很多愛台灣的外國人必須離開。中國人卻不用放棄，還能讓他們的前夫前妻來，享有其他新住民沒有的特權？！極其不公。最糟糕的是，中國人來了，不愛台灣就算了，還要弄爛台灣。

這就牽涉到最近在吵的陸配家人依親的問題!開放依親，大量的外國籍老人來臺使用健保，會讓已經問題叢生的健保更加崩潰!沒有從年輕就繳健保費，年紀大直接從國外來就要使用健保，真的很不公平合理!另外，開放依親，會讓中國可以更方便在台灣推動洗人口，台灣會變成下一個香港!

台灣的移民法案的確需要改善，因為台灣的少子化及人力不足得靠吸引國際上各種人才來補足了，現前很多國家都有推出配套措施來吸引他們該國內所需的人才來移民進他們本國，例：入籍澳洲者可保留雙重國籍，不需放棄您原有的國籍，澳洲深曉得他們國內人力不足且需要用移民政策來吸引各國人才，因此他們推出吸引人才的移民政策都已經行之多年了。
