What really makes me feel old is, I remember when Mattingly came up as a rookie player.

6:18 absolutely is a balk, look at his back foot during his delivery, it comes off the rubber and goes back on, a little hop. Plus, when you speed up your windup like that, it will be called a balk almost 99% of the time.
  • I was 15 years old when these ejections happened especially of course Joe Girardi being crazy when he gets ejected as a Yankee fan.

Announcers seem to be arguing the players and coaches can say whatever they like as long as their back is turned. It's a tactic.

"His back's turned!" the Rockies announcers say as you can clearly see the guy turning and shouting back at the umpire about the call.

A few notes: 1) "He's walking away" is no protection against being thrown out. 2) Distance from the umpire is no protection against being thrown out. 3) Umpires are under no obligation to keep star players in a game. 4) No fan I know of ever came to a ballgame to watch the umpire. 5) If any major league umpire had the stones to call the strike zone as it's actually written in the rule book, half the league would get thrown out of games.

22:22 Phelps’s ejection is exactly how I got thrown out of a game my senior year of high school. He breaks zero rules and asks a reasonable question. Not arguing about balls and strikes, he was asking if it missed in and by how much. Pitchers should absolutely be within their rights to do so without getting canned for it. That’s such horseshit.

You can't disengage with the rubber. That's a balk.

5:46-12:02 PIT vs. SD/the top of the 3rd inning of the game was certainly one of the weirdest moments in the 2016 MLB season 22:20-25:00 MIA vs. LAD/that was a joke for home plate umpire Todd Tichenor to throw David Phelps out of the game for just asking (not arguing) about the strike zone after he threw the 3-2 pitch to Joc Pederson in the bottom of the 8th inning. I don’t blame Don Mattingly at all one bit for going off to the races on the issue 🏁 34:50-35:48 BOS vs. NYY 46:51-47:22 HOU vs. BOS 47:23-59:04 TEX/TB vs. TOR 59:49-1:01:02 BOS vs. KC 1:05:13-1:08:11 TOR vs. MI

Players are doing very well in baseball proving really well. They still need things to learn, but they’re still good.

The greatest thing about baseball is the human element. Check swings, balls and strikes. Outs. That’s all judgement calls. There are zero rules that defines what a swing is. Balls and strikes are basically what level you’re playing at. If you get too tight with kids, it doesn’t fair well. Once you get into the pros you are allowed to squeeze to the exact strike zone we all know. Im learning that now with legion and teens. You have to throw a bone here and there. Or else you’ll be there forever

Am often amazed at how much the commentators know about subjective opinions and do not know about MLB Rules. LOL
  • @mvlad5098
How many ejections in that rangers game

11:20 Ever since Mark McGwire came off steroids, he can only play peace maker in all fights and arguments.
