With a day off for our nation's birthday, I decided to have some fun in the shop and play with 3D engraving photos within Lightburn. Come along with me as I try out a file from Etsy and see how the Atezr L2 36w will do with engraving a detailed 3D image into craft plywood.

Looks great! A few years back, one of the guys down at Baltimore Hackerspace made a sign for a horse farm that he milled out of wood on the CNC router to create a 3D Relief. After he had the 3D piece he did a separate process on the laser to add shading to it. It was really an impressive work and complicated to align the work piece between the processes. The end result looked a lot like what you have here.

God bless for supporting the artist We are peaceful people and thus often subject to poverty due to exploitation The true artist mainly focuses on creativity however when reality knocks we realize we also have to eat and drink Once more thankyou for your consideration

Hi completely a noob at this. I have a two trees tts 10. Done all you have done in the video but my preview is just black? Tried it on a small plaque as test came out OK but not 3d any recommendations

Nice video! How long did it take to carve on your laser? Roughly what size was the material? Thanks Don

Great video. How do you get the cut line to match the image . I am just learning lightburn and I'm sure there must be an easy way to match both layers.

Thanks for clarifying this technique for me. The results are amazing. Do you think this would work using leather? I was thinking it might replicate tooling.

What have you found in playing with scan angle. I have the v35. I bought same file and did Jarvis .1, 5 degree. At 100mms 40-45% power was best. Baltic birch was great, cherry plywood is ok. I copied your 15,000 mm/m 100% and am going to try it. What will larger angles do? I heard you say stop banding. The Etsy seller recommends 5% I might do some bigger offsets to test. Is it just a trick to prevent banding and 5% minimizes the y travel to keep speed up?

How do you create a 3D image file?I see them on Etsy all the time. I’d like to create my own.

Hay looks great. Do you have a link to get the hanger cut out?
  • @owenauer3406
I had a sheet of 3mm ply and printed a waste board template on it, it was straight when I started but then warped very badly from Lasering it. Just wondering how yours didn't warp since it obviously had a ton more heat than mine.
  • @shughes599
Btw I am totally stealing your hangers. I just bought a large ish box of metal ones from Amazon but never again lol. Brilliant design.

How do you calculate the beam with? I have a 100w CO2 laser. Thanks for sharing.

What was the run-time on the engrave and cut?
