Simbang Gabi is one of the oldest Filipino Christmas traditions, where the faithful gather for nine days of Masses, prayers to the Child Jesus, and festive gatherings — typically held in the early morning or evening.

Brief Background of La Naval de Manila

One of the most venerated Marian image in the Philippines is that of Our Lady of the Rosary, known as "Nuestra Senora del Rosario de La Naval". The "La Naval" was added after the delivery of Manila through a naval victories in 1646 was attributed to her intercession.

Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary of La Naval de Manila is a title given to the Blessed Virgin Mary with respect to a series of the five naval battles that were fought in the Philippine waters from March to October 1646. The said battle resulted to the unexpected and miraculous victory on the side of the heavily outnumbered Spanish-Filipino fleet of two-old and nearly-rotting galleons against a vastly superior Dutch armada of 18 warships.
