It is typical for some mushroom species to not entirely fill a jar of liquid culture media which makes it difficult to make syringes that are full of mycelium. When it comes time to extract your mycelium, a heavily diluted jar makes for a time consuming stressful task of trying to collect the floating clumps of mycelium, otherwise you will just get many tiny strands of mycelium and mostly liquid in the syringe. By removing the top layer of excess liquid from the completed jar you will save time and hassle and make sure every syringe is perfectly full of mycelium. Watch the video to see exactly how its done.
