Midweek Q&A: Buyers Regret, Expensive Vinyl and MORE!

Published 2024-04-10
I’m finally back with a long overdue Q&A vid. Thanks so much everyone who contributed to this one. Keep dropping them on the community post and in the comments of this vid, and I’ll get back to making it a regular occurrence. Hope you all enjoy!

Background Tunes:

Nocturnus - The Key

Monstrosity Imperial Doom is what I meant. Have a funny feeling I may have said ‘impending’, my bad!

ALLLLL of that, and YouTube still sniped me for profanity. I tried.

Interesting answers Matthew. Nice to know you too buy stuff you don't really need 😂
  • A24 just can’t do much wrong. Midsommar is one of my favourites. The upcoming releases Maxxxine, Love lies bleeding and Civil war look really good, excited about them all. Cool video mate, as always 🤘👹🍺
  • @schillinger7814
Thanks for answering pal. A vinyl I've got that goes for eye-watering amounts now is "Hyvis Lyset...." by Burzum. First press on marbled vinyl that I bought on release for about £16. Goes for crazy money. Also, I loved Midsomer as well, great film.

Matt thanks for answering my question! Auto correct made my question say new band instead of new album 🤘🏼🤘🏼🍻🍻 Witch Vomit 🤮 is so killer and I’m fuuuckin glad you agree brother 🤘🏼🤘🏼☠☠🤘🏼🤘🏼

Nice to see the Q&A return Matt! Some interesting questions here as always! I don't think I've brought many albums that I thought were utter poo, if I have then I've forgotten 😂😂 I have heard a little bit of Memoriam, it was OK but didn't do a lot for me. However, this was back when I was just starting to get into Death Metal, I might like them more now. Witch Vomit I really need to check out, they sound like a really cool band that I would enjoy. Best of luck ranking the Six Feet Under albums! 😁🤘🏻 I have a question; How often do you buy albums? (Every week, fortnight, etc)
  • @Dismal-future
I'm still a CD guy (have around 1800, probably 90% metal) but I did recently buy Decibel's Necrot exclusive vinyl. Sick cover from a sick band.

Thanks for answering the question. Bands i have done this with and bought the albums are 1. Bolt Thrower - Honour Valour Pride (which you mentioned) 2. Katatonia - City Burials 3. Amorphis - Far From The Sun 4. Pink Floyd - The Final Cut (not metal but i love Pink Floyd and hate this album) 5. Death - The Sound Of Perseverance (dont hate this but only bought to complete collection, never have the urge to listen again)

I was so glad to see Dissection live - not once, but twice, and meet John on both occasions - I own both Dissections on picture disc vinyls, and I have the glorious complete cassette box set - which cost a bit lol . Memoriam I think suck - I love bolt Thrower but these just are boring ! Kataklysm used to be great back in the day, the early albums rule - I like up to Serenity in fire
  • Exchange rates & shipping costs can be brutal Hellish Expectations bought on Bandcamp cost me around $120 give or take. Most expensive is coincidentally enough Storm of The Light’s Bane I got it for just over $1,100 CDN Also yeah Witch Vomit’s pretty awesome I’ve got that album on the way as well. Enjoyed the video, have a good one.

Consuming Impulse - nice. I've got a first press that I bought when it came out. I dont listen to it as much as I should. I looked up an album I have on discogs that turned out to be quite valuable - God Hand by Brand of Sacrifice. I don't even like it and got it bundled with something else.

My fav A24- Green Room, Killing of a Sacred Deer, The Witch, Hereditary, Talk To Me, Blackcoats Daughter. Midsommer was just alright. Too similar to Wicker Man for me. Some good head trauma though.
  • @under-one-flag
Yeah mate im the same - I have tons of first press cds as I bought em at the time in the early 90s - I couldn't care less about first press vinyls, I prefer nice colourful reissues
  • @MessOfTheVoid
Have you ever checked out any electronic music? If so what is your favorite record?
  • Vinyl prices are crazy nowadays. Have collected vinyl since the 80s but never spent more than £40 on a record.About ten years I found two copies of that Pestilence lp for £6.99 each, luckily the seller didn't have a clue what he was selling. I have the Monstrosity on picture disc, odd it's never been reissued

The most expensive thing I have is Venom's Welcome to Hell on Neat records. From all the markings its a first pressing. Paid 8 bucks about 20 years ago. Highest I see it on Discogs is close to 600 US, but my cover is good but not mint. I think the most I paid new for an album was the recent release of Smashing Pumpkins Mellon Collie which was 90 bucks. But its a 4 disc set in a thick box sleeve. Have you checked out the later Memoriam albums? The release from last year was excellent I thought.
