In the first movie, Po's father being a goose was just a minor gag that the writers came up with for fun, but then the sequels turned it into one of the most tragic yet uplifting and beautiful stories in animation history.
  • Kinda late here but I think it's a cool fact: Tigress came from a orphanage where every one feared her for her tiger strength, until Shifu adopted her and tought her how to control her strength. This actually explains why she sympathises so much with Po wanting to know about his real parents.

One of the first animated movies to bring me to tears.
  • @ScreamingScallop
29:08 It's so horrifying because Po's mom can't move that fast, and Shen and his wolves are so close, you know they caught up with her the second she was out of our sight.

It's amazing how this movie can make a peacock of all animals so scary. I've always considered Lord Shen the closest thing DreamWorks has to Scar, Disney's best villain. He's cold, calculating, his past directly ties in with the protagonist's, and there's so much depth to his character, plus Gary Oldman's performance is impeccable. I also love Po's struggle to find his true self and inner peace, and that "Po Finds the Truth" sequence in the panda village is so beautiful, yet so heartbreaking.

Someone at Dreamworks really knows what they're doing when it comes to sequels. Kung Fu Panda 2, Shrek 2, and How to Train Your Dragon 2 are all better than their first entries, which is saying something, because the originals are all great.
  • I read that Shen actually didn't want to take over China and knew that it wouldn't bring him happiness or satisfaction but at that point, he had committed so much atrocities that he felt as though he had to finish what he started. When he closed his eyes in the end, he pretty much was welcoming death.

1.I'm enough of a man to admit that the sequence where he overcomes his trauma and remembers the sacrifice his mother made for him, still makes me tear up a bit. 2. Shen is a fantastic villain . The fact that he commits so many atrocities and yet the movie is still able to make you feel a tinge of pity for him. He wants to conquer China not because he thinks it will make him happy, but rather because he's in so deep that there's just no point in turning back. 3. Friendly reminder that this kids' movie covered dealing with trauma, self hate and atrocities like literal genocide with more maturity than like half the rated R movies out there lol.

Master shifu joining the fight has honestly got to be top 5 moments in all animation. The chills are just unmatched when he finally is put into action
  • @arjunwali9885
Fun fact, the leader of the wolf army is the same wolf that Po's dad hits with his hammer in the flashback of the panda genocide, you can even see the wound Po's dad gave him with his hammer! Ironically, that same wolf hits po in the face with a hammer in the film's opening fight!
  • @biswojyoti1
the scene where po's mom says her last goodbye and lures the wolves away always gets me, every single time
  • @ReelPodcasts
This movie is incredibly special for me. I saw it early on a Saturday morning and the only other people in the theater were a little boy (probably around 5 years old) and his mom. During the sequence where Po is remembering his mom I just happened to turn to see the little boy tears in his eyes look up at his mom and give her the biggest hug you could imagine. It sticks with me because that's how powerful animation is and why I'm always trying to keep my standards for animated movies high.
  • 34:41 I still find it hilarious how Po’s hand is on fire, and despite being entirely surrounded by water, he just shoves his hand in his mouth instead. 🤣🤣
  • @cthulhuwu_
Movies like this are why I hate the excuse "it's just a kid's movie" when a film is lackluster or bad. These movies are visually gorgeous, emotionally captivating, and so fun all the way through. Kids deserve that level of quality and care in what they watch. I love this series!
  • @brandoncowan4422
It took me a long time to understand why I loved this movie so much. As an adopted person it resonated with me but as I got older the feelings of abandonment took over until I learned why I was given up. Like Po my adoption was the result of a war that left my people decimated and my parents wanted me to have a better and safer life. This movie made me feel ok with my last while embracing me present
  • @BTBSOUNDS
I know Coy's mentioned he cant normally connect with animation as strongly as he does with live action so seeing him be this impacted just goes to show how amazing this movie is. Kung Fu Panda 2 and Into the SpiderVerse go back and forth for me as the greatest animated movies of all time
  • @ReelRejects
Thank you guys for watching! REMINDER: Coy is out of country for next 2 weeks so Kung Fu Panda 3 will be little late
  • @exyuda6592
Oh shit! I didn't think we'd get part 2 so soon after the first. Reel Rejects have us feasting! ❤
  • @wolfganglandau3978
Kung Fu Panda 2, How to Train Your Dragon 2, and Shrek 2 are prime examples of how to improve on a story with a sequel. And they all came from Dreamworks
