This is true! This is especially true for female convicts. Many people are imprisoned for self defense and protecting their loved ones.

I would disagree with others walking free in similar cases because that would be the right thing to do as our laws are based off of "principal". But just look at Marijuana. It's legal in most places in the US but still people sitting in jail for it. So I wouldn't hold your breath on that one. You 100% shouldn't be charged for trying to restrain someone who was actively threatening violence and had a violent past.
