The fact that he got shot in the head and survived and then outlived the Soviet Union dying in 2002 makes this man’s story even more incredible.

Gonna say this because I'm not sure it was mentioned: this guy survived being shot in the head with an explosive round on March 6th, 1940. He woke up a week later... True story.

Being still is such a super power! As an experiment, I once stood absolutely still in what seemed an empty forest. After 15 minutes, all sorts of creatures started appearing, even though I had not taken any shelter. I just stood there. Wonderful experience.

I feel honored to have had a grandfather who was good friends with Simo. My mother also saw Simo a couple of times, when he visited for tea. :)
