Service men and women put everything on the line for our country, including their lives. Many pay the ultimate price, but for those that are fortunate enough to walk away with their lives, their time spent in the armed forces can take an enormous toll on their bodies. Larry gives his personal account of how 20 years in the military (15 of which were spent in Delta Force) has taken its toll.

My Martial arts teacher always told me before you mess with an old man you better know what kind of a young man he was.
  • Dude, you’re former Delta Force. You don’t have to explain anything.

I call my belly my extended winter operations sustainment package.

When I lost my legs to an IED a few years ago in Afghanistan, I started gaining weight very quickly too. As a double above-knee amputee it takes a lot to adapt workouts to my new body but Crossfit and my new personal trainer have really helped and I’m finally getting back to my fighting weight. I’m proud to see you doing the same brother. Keep going and keep inspiring.

It's a safe bet that Larry has had a more productive life than 99% of those "haters."
  • 15 years ago I was on Fort Bragg bringing my kids for a visit. There was a super nice guy who spotted a our family tourists who were lost and helped us get straightened out. I always wondered who that man was. Today I realized that the very fit and friendly man with the sabre on his shoulder was Larry Vickers. Mr Vickers I will never forget your kindness to my kids and myself. Thank you and all your peers for your service.
  • My first day on Ft. Bragg, 2006, during the introduction, a Sergeant was telling us (this was when the deployments were CONSTANT rotations in and out), "If you see a guy with a maroon or tan beret and a belly, maybe it's because getting shot in the midsection or blown up can make sit-ups difficult." I never forgot that, or what it meant. You don't own anyone an explanation for anything, Mr. Vickers.

It's incredibly depressing that he felt he had to make this

***** As someone who makes his living in the fitness industry let me tell you that all these jackasses making hateful comments about you being fat, likely don't go to the gym themselves.  We have an infestation of mediocre people in this world who all they do is criticize and belittle.  They have never done anything of note, they will never do anything of note, and their only defense mechanism is talking shit on the internet.  Pound sand is the correct response to them.  Many of us who don't comment much appreciate your service and the information you put out.  Best wishes on feeling better and your fitness goals.

He visited my hometown and I went to his booksigning event. I was shocked, because he shed A LOT of weight! He looks like a million bucks now! Supremely supremely inspirational!

When stationed in Germany, I was a Retention NCO. Whenever the Delta recruiter came around, I would assist him with the recruiting effort. I can tell you 70% of the soldiers that volunteered to try out could not pass the initial 5-event PT test. - Tough mentally as well as physically. Thank you Mr. Vickers

I'm a disabled Vietnam vet. I understand the sacrifice you made and I thank you. Don't let those who have not served get you down. Thanks for your service and for sharing your knowledge.
  • @h.collier3544
Sir, you owe zero explanations to anyone! Thank you for your service.
  • @dcatof6379
My buddy Justin was Delta and he has nothing but the highest regard for you Larry! I like to talk to him about stuff he went through and he talks a lot about you and the things you did for delta!
  • If you're a SF veteran you've earned your fatness. Dude was grinding harder than most people ever will for 15 years.
  • @92notchback302
Larry, you were in Delta, we can only imagine how many engagements you participated in and friends you lost. Everyone ages, and we all gain weight as we age. I still wouldn't try to pick a fight with you, I know what you operators can do hand to hand. We won't even discuss the damage you can do with a firearm. You're a bigger badass in your 50s than most men will ever be at half that age. Keep the content coming. We are all watching to learn
  • Crazy he thought he had to explain himself. Man is a whole unit and has done more for this country than the keyboard warriors attacking him ever will. I've never seen your content until this video but you can bet I'm gonna be watching from now on. Thank you for everything and for these videos and the positivity you're spreading.
