"When I use nerd speak, some people don't understand what I'm saying. That's ok, because I don't either!" Never change, Tango
  • @adeptusmedicus
Old joke but I can't resist. There are 10 types of people in the world, those who understand binary and those who don't
  • Tango, whenever you place TNT in potentially risky places(like your crafter system), place an anvil above it in case it activates. This will prevent explosion block damage to the circuit.

okay but the lesson on binary encoding actually was very helpful. Like I was expecting to come out of it just as confused if not more so as I was going in, but it actually makes so much sense now which is just ??? You need to stop selling yourself short, Tango. You're amazing at what you do

System engineer here. I think the main bottleneck is gonna be the high latency / low throughput to request the items. Since: - Items are crafted immediately after all resources are just available, you're guaranteed to run out of one of them after crafting one item - Then the system need to request one piece of the missing resource while the crafter goes idle, and wait for that item to arrive - Then the next cycle: craft item, request missing, wait for resource to arrive, ... In CS terms, we can: 1. High / low watermark to buffer resources and parallelize the steps of crafting and requesting 2. Send a batch of items after one request to increase the throughput of the bottleneck (which is requesting items) And since the entire request system runs on one shared bus, effectively airtime is shared between different crafters (and their requested resources), so maybe send more resources in a batch if an item is used more often (like sticks and dust for torches) Oh man it's Factorio all over again... Must not succumb to the addiction...

I love how clearly all the hermits are such fans of each other/'s work. They all fanboy/fangirl over each other and they're all proud of each other and it's especially clear in interactions like this episode with Tango and Pearl <3

the last bit where Tango is wrapping up the video while trying his hardest to ignore the buggers are sooooo funny
  • My brother in Christ the factory is a binary computer in survival Minecraft, he’s got doc level technology with no game breaking just PURE REDSTONE
  • @jayc7559
I love how everyone is just hanging out in the background while you try to do your outro, it’s so funny

The reason for the animals being attracted to that hill is because passive mobs in minecraft will always naturally pathfind up. They check the blocks around them based on a weighted scoring system, then once the block position is chosen its bumped up 1. It's a short summary but if you spend long time in one world eventually you will find all the passive mobs at the top of the world generation (provided the source blocks are preferential to the mob type)
  • Now everybody, remember to come back next year and ask Tango for his second annual Tango Teaches Binary.
  • As Joel says, Tango says he isn’t a builder and then builds amazing things. Don’t beat yourself down buddy, your awesome❤
  • basically every hermit this week: so basically, gamers outreach

The piano matching the mini timelapse of pillar mining was INCREDIBLY satisfying. Thank you, my brain feels nice now.
  • @WhatsFaffening
I think making a punch in/punch out time clock for the factory would be an awesome way to have it turn on and off for coming and going! Everything looking amazing Tango!
  • @jackiemaass5425
That binary explanation actually helped soooo much! Not just in understanding tango's factory, but I can't believe that's actually how binary works- I never knew!!!

Season 5 Zedaph is looking down smiling with that reference to "Is that sheep looking at me?" Also, what is this server coming to? BDubs and Pearl doing redstone. Meanwhile Tango and Mumbo are becoming great builders.
