I remember being 10 years old and seeing that crash. It is a terrible feeling as a racing fan for a driver not to respond.
  • Whether or not it affected him as a driver, I'm glad he's alive, I'm glad he's healthy, and I'm glad he was able to come back to the sport.

Many will say he was unlucky throughout his career and its true, but he was very lucky to survive this accident and not die.

Incredibile come Mark si sia accorto della molla senza lo slow motion. I piloti di formula uno hanno un attenzione è una vista eccezionale
  • This crash basically ended his career. Despite retiring after 2017, he really wasn’t the same after that horrible wreck

Senna feelings on this race. I watched both moments and as a Brazilian it was terrible to wait and understand what happened.

He always maintained the crash didnt change him, but as fans his performances after it showed otherwise. He never had that killer instinct.

He was never quite the same after this. Such a shame. Not only a lovely guy, but a hell of a racer.

I was at the circuit when this happened. I cannot begin to describe the confusion among the crowd when it happened. You couldn't see the suspension spring hit is helmet on the big screens at the time as the screens were quite far away (on the other side of the track from where I was standing), it looked as if he inexplicably went straight on into the barrier. Everyone was really confused when he didn't get straight out of the car and they were all discussing what could've happened. Some thought it was a car failure, others thought he'd passed out. I thought it was a car failure and that he'd been knocked unconscious in the impact. It was only after returning to a relatives house later that afternoon and going online did I learn just how severe it was. There was a solemn feeling among the crowd during the race build up the following day. Everyone was talking about it. I have photos of when they brought his broken car back to the pits. It was so surreal to be there when this happened. This was such a scary incident and Massa was so fortunate to survive.

How he recovered from this I will never know. True racer and will always be one of my favourites. From Australia xx

Not gonna lie, being 12 and naive at the time, I genuinely thought he was dead as they weren't showing anything about it. And it was only until I saw the footage of him being taken out of the ambulance waving his hand that I could breathe easy again.

I remember watching this live. My heart sunk. Pretty sure it was only a few weeks after Henry Surtees fatal accident. Both of them crashed with their foot buried on the throttle. I feared the worst for Felipe.
  • Ah, quando Vanzini e Gené erano più o meno ascoltabili, che tempi

Seems like this vid suddenly popped out on everyone's recommended

Felippe Massa - the most unlucky driver in F1 history. Chris Amon and Ronnie Peterson are behind him taking second and third spot :-(

The way the marshalls were acting around Massa i think they thought he was dead!
