Taker's quote about the Cole vs Lawler match is legendary. It was something like "there are boys in the back that didnt make the card and we just gave Micheal cole 30 minutes...what hell happen to this bussiness"
  • @maxbuffkin5625
Zane: "The Corre is the worst tshirt design." AJ Styles' TNA Semen Shirt: "Allow me to introduce myself."
  • @AutoArtemAuto
One of Jim Ross's best lines from this Wrestlemania: For the sake of the children watching, don't pull down the other strap.
  • @hbryster96
Brian when he started this series: I will never give negative stars Jerry Lawler vs Michael Cole *exists*: are you sure about that?
  • @edh286
Michael Cole: “Rey doesn’t need the knee brace” But hasn’t he had surgery five times in his left kneeeeee?
  • @SethColby69
Just realize the fact that Michael Cole has more wrestlemania wins than bray wyatt let that sink in
  • @VicariJohn
Undertaker saw Cole in the orange singlet before the match and just said “what has this business come to”.
  • Cole lost two teeth and still finished the match? Dumb as hell angle, but damn, props to the guy for pushing through.
  • The story has it that Sheamus had a choice to face either Daniel Bryan or Rey Mysterio at Mania but when Sheamus choose Bryan they ended up on the Preshow and then they fought in the opening match for Wrestlemania 28 and we all know what happened there

A few notes about this show to add on: Daniel Bryan and Sheamus had their US title match bumped to a dark match, and it was a lumberjack match. It was a no contest that then turned into a battle royal which was won by Khali. Imagine that. Edge didn’t announce his retirement until the week following, not the next day. I was at the SmackDown taping after Mania and Edge was very limited with what he did. The match with Punk and Orton has a “film cut” on their 2011 best-of PPV matches Blu-ray set, which is pretty cool. The involvement with Austin and Trish may have had more to do with tying in the relaunch of Tough Enough in 2011. Need I say more. Surprisingly, this show and the Cole-Lawler match were not given the “worst of” awards from Meltzer that year. Those honors went to Victory Road and Sting-Hardy. All of the “fruit loop” jokes feel more tacky when you remember that Michael Cole got into some hot water after calling Josh Mathews a certain derogatory F-word on Twitter and the subsequent make-good campaign with GLAAD. What a company this is.

This show will always have a special place for me. My mother passed away that weekend, and so my friends invited my brother and I over to watch it to get our minds off of things. Really special to us

I liked Cody’s “Undashing” run with the Rip Hamilton mask & putting paper bags on people’s head.

The big problem with the Lawler-Cole Match was that it took waaaaaaaay too long (much like Bret vs Vince the year prior). Had they kept it to 5-7 minutes and Lawler beating Cole into a pulp with just 1 interference from Swagger and nearfall for Cole it would've been fine. This needed to be a minutely booked angle (like Vince vs Shane at X-Seven) instead of a match. But they went with booking an actual match and that had to fail.
  • @Rafman316
Vince: How can we set up this match between Taker and Triple H? Creative: They could both stare at the sign. Vince: I love it!
  • The Triple H “ahh” at the end of the sentences is great! I don’t know what that get a chuckle out of me ah!
  • @MaturedSinner
Last time I was this early, Wrestlemania had live audiences
  • Snooki, was the Semi-Main, let that sink in. Guess they had to give the crowd a chance to catch their breath, after that incredible Triple H/Undertaker match.
  • The Pre Show Match for this Mania was Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus for the U.S. Championship until it was turned into a non title battle royal which The Great Khali Won...lolWWE
  • You know that Michael cole match was bad when Vince said it was worse and he seen a lot of bad matches.

Yeah, I'm 99% sure that the disfigurement was supposed to be in Cody's head (important to note that Rey "disfigured" him to end the narcissistic "Dashing" gimmick so that was a brilliant transition in storyline) and while he was initially kayfabe (*or not?) injured, it also caused him to think he's disfigured even after the injury healed. Weird commentary aside, Undashing Cody is still my favorite gimmick of his. His nasal droning voice also worked great for the character promos at the time.
