In this video I breakdown Reid Duke's incredible article, "How to Smell Blood and Level Up Your Game." It is an incredible article about how to continue improving as you face better competition in Magic: the Gathering, so I wanted to give it some exposure to help more players benefit from its timeless wisdom. I also add a bit of context and explain some of his examples, because it was written over 5 years ago and some of the references may be difficult for newer players to grasp.

Very interesting and helpful article. Such videos are my favorite. Also, this philosophy is applicable not only in magic but in other competitive games too.

Would love to see a video devoted to your mana base. How many fast lands, slow lands, enters tapped, etc for each deck archetype. #glory

No risk, no @glory? I'm way behind in this process - still the guy that tests the patience of the experienced players, casting spells into open mana, etc. :)

I was playing the One Piece TCG and my opponent had played a removal card. It was my turn and I thought about playing another character but I was afraid of the same removal. I should've played the character and establish a better board instead of being afraid of a low probability removal from my opponent.

#glory great idea for video. I think jailbreak scheme is an interesting card and could talk about those sort of cards in draft
  • @jaysuede2627
Damn right. You can't win through the cards they "might have." They have to have the removal, or the extra haste creature. Make them have it.

If “you got it, you got it” since it force their hand, if they had it then they would definitely use it on what im about to play cuz we both know how good it is

#glory Also I'd love to have more videos like this. Sometimes i have an amazing draft deck but then I don't know how to make the best decision and then I'm blown away by an opponents card, where if i had played my cards right, I wouldn't need to care about.
