If you have to pick six numbers pick 3 odd and 3 even. Or 2 odd and 4 even. Or 4 odd and 2 even. Those combinations come out the most and is easy to prove it mathematically using factorials. Doing this the odds of winning are still in the millions and still a matter of luck.

For the recent big Powerball jackpot, I bought 1 full ticket based on a combination of the statistically most common draws and numbers that haven't appeared in certain positions. I bought a 2nd full ticket that was a combination of birthdays & Quick Pick. One the 1st ticket, I matched exactly one number in one of the 5 games. On the 2nd ticket, I won back the cost of the ticket and then some. It's not the fist time this type of thing has happened -- I don't think I'll buy this book.

I got 4 out of 6 numbers one time in California , back before they had powerball. I got the first 4 numbers right and missed the last 2 by a couple of digits each . That was in '99 and I'm still sick in my stomach thinking how close I actually got to winning millions. I picked the numbers myself at random , actually tried to " space " out for a few seconds and then I started marking numbers without looking . I've tried this same approach many times since and I've never remotely come close to hitting the lottery.
