The Hanseatic cities of Hamburg, Bremen, Lübeck and Stralsund are always worth a visit. Northern Germany also has a lot to offer.

I love Hamburg. It’s so open to everyone and it always makes me smile. It’s so green and the buildings are not the ugly sky scrapers that make you feel so small. There’s water and bridges everywhere. The people are nice and friendly even if they appear to be rough. The people in Hamburg take the German bluntness to the next level… but in a friendly and not mean way. Very straight forward. If you’re prepared for it you’ll understand what I mean and even might love it.

Hamburg, Pearl of the North. The harsh conditions create a special kind of human being. The coconut guy. A thin hard shell on the outside and soft on the inside. The skin like tanned leather, shaped by wind and rain. The sky alone with its more than 50 shades of gray should be worth a trip. You are allways Welcome, Digger.

I was born in Hamburg and lived there for 24 years before leaving for California 35 years ago. I still visit at least once a year to see friends and family. I love that city! Thank you for the video!

Two things everyone visiting (or of course living) in Hamburg should know. One: It never rains in Hamburg, there is just sometimes a bit of wet air around. And Two: It's never cold. It's just maybe the wrong clothing you are wearing. With that in mind, Hamburg is and will always be the most beautiful city in Germany.

I was born in Hamburg. Although you miraculously managed it to basically show ZERO of the pretty sights of Hamburg, which is quite astonishing how close you were to so many of the super pretty landmarks u missed...I’m still glad you enjoyed your trip to Hamburg! 😂

Homer has New York City, Nalf has Hamburg :D
  • @jack2453
That's Hamburg. Just when you are overwhelmed by the 'Schietwetter', the sun comes out and the water glistens and the Fischbrötchen call. The amazing city state located next to Germany.

Something similar happened to me when I first visited Hamburg. I really didn't liked my trip here for a lot of circumstances that made my experience bad. But I gave the city another chance and after that I fell inlove with the place... And now I even live here 😅.

Der alte Elbtunnel fehlte noch, auch sehenswert. There is an old tunnel under the river which nowadays can only used by pedestrians and cyclists. It's worth viewing and visiting because it's very old and you down to tunnel in huge elevators in which some cars would fit. And in older cars, before the new tunnel and the Köhlbransbrücke existed, workers went through this tunnel to their work in the harbor.

The Scavanger Hunt/ Schnitzeljagd was such a lovely idea! I need to do that for friends of mine! Brilliant! 🤗

Great Adventure! In case you plan another trip to Hamburg, I recommend the Ballinstadt, a kind of Museum dedicated to those who emigrated to the United States.

I'm born and raised in (near) Hamburg and this city is by far my favourite in Germany. Since the last Hamburg-video i was pretty sure, Nalf should be drowned in the Hamburg harbour. But miracles happen and Nalf finally did my hometown right. And at the end of the video, still unsure "drown him or not?" he said goodbye in one of two possible proper ways in Hamburg. One is "Tschüß" may be nothing for american tongues, the other is "Moin". Not "Moin, Moin" which is unnecessary gossiping 😉 Nalf earned my pardon and if we ever should meet i invite you eating a "Fischbrötchen" or "Original Labskaus" with me Hummel, Hummel!

Americans really know how to tell a good story. Thumbs up for this travelogue.

Glad you enjoyed your visit. The locals call it „the most beautiful city in the world“, and when the sun shines they’re right. You saw all the best bits. Well done!
  • @GermanBeardGuy
Moin, as one who grew up close to Hamburg, I can second you here: 3rd time is the charm - you will fall in love with the City of Hamburg. Alter Elbtunnel, Fischmarkt, find a pub in St. Pauli with live music and that's all you need! I live in Seattle now and I miss some of the perks from Hamburg... a lot!

Nalf's videos are always somehow a lesson. I enjoy this. 👍🏼
  • @leavoda3791
You could allso look at it as Hamburg not being the cursed city but the city of excitement and exploration. Every roadblock forcing you to explore the roads less traveled. In fact giving you lessons in living. ❤ Love your channel.
