Nitin Gadkari has often been described as the best performing minister of the Modi Cabinet. Hence the surprise in political circles when his name was not released in the BJP's first list of candidates. Gadkari, the BJP nominee from Nagpur is eyeing a 3rd term and has set himself a challenge of a five lakh victory margin. Here he speaks on his relationship with PM Modi, his own ambitions, whether he feels he has got his due given his stature as former president and high performing minister- and why he wants to phase out petrol and diesel cars entirely.

    The first 15 minutes are an apt example of how an interview should not be! You cry that BJP leaders do not give you interviews when they do, you ask stupid questions aimed at headline hunting. Ask questions about ministry , use the space for critical questions.

    We must remind Miss Dutta that the PM never said that Hindus are in danger or in this case BJP fights the elections for Hindutva but the fact of the matter is when somebody says against the Hindu Dharma ( such as DMK, Congress, TMC AAP etc )then it is necessary to counter their narratives . BTW, if a Muslim or Christian is proud of their faith then why not a Hindu? Two decades ago a narrative was created that to be a Hindu is communal . Now this govt has shattered that narrative .
