The Rapid Application Tourniquet System or R.A.T.S. was developed by a U.S. Special Forces 18D medic. It is one of the only tourniquet systems in the world that can work effectively with extremely small limbs of children, as well as K9s and other animals. The R.A.T.S. tourniquet is by far the easiest and fastest TQ to apply, especially if you have to apply one to yourself with only one working arm. This is my choice for an EDC tourniquet, and it permanently lives on my belt, ready for emergencies.

Just found your channel. Like your delivery, humility and production quality. I subscribed. Keep making vids. You’ve got the potential to go big on YouTube.

I don’t have anything against this tourniquet, but the reason the CAT tourniquet took you a minute and 11 seconds isn’t because it’s a bad tourniquet… it’s because you don’t know how to use it. I just pulled out my cat tourniquet and had it applied in a manner that stop hemorrhaging in 12 seconds. It’s all about your knowledge of the equipment. Just don’t try to tarnish the reputation of another piece of equipment to make this one look better. Edit: yes I did this one handed

Squishy stuff! Love it man, thanks. Just bought one… People sometimes over Enginer stuff, keeping it simple is best!

As a Houston FD medic a long time ago, I thought your video was very good. Keep up the good work!!

Solid video. I have these for my kids bags but the grizzly hills tourniquet I bought is what I prefer. Crank tested the hell out of it and it’s more ideal for me

Just got a cheap made in China knock off Rat from the internet just for testing how it works. Its metal hook is made from steel which seems durable but the elastic is thiner and shorter. Honestly, it works fine so far. Even better than a knock off Cat. I’m LEO who familiar with Cat and Soft-t and always carry a tq with me. Gotta buy a real Rat for sure. I love the design and how compact it is. It won’t be a burden to carry it along with other kind of tq that’s for sure. This is the first video of you that I watch and I see no reason not to like and subscribe! Thanks
-
Great video! I really like the way you carry yours. I wish you luck with the hate that may come this way because people love to hate the RATS online.
-
“Not tight but it’s quick..” the point is for it to be tight.
-
Excellent video! Thanks so much.
-
Are you sure that´s an actual CAT-TQ? On Gen7´s (since 2015) the Time-Stamp is grey, not black, and the actual Buckle to route through has only a single opening, unlike the one shown.
-
Great video sir, thank you!
-
Thanks brother!
-
Great video man! And for anyone reading this, remember to put the tourniquet as close to your abdomen as possible, regardless of which point on your limb is injured.
-
From your personal carry position, can you deploy from the opposite side?
-
Excellent video.
-
Sir Yes Sir!!

Good review of the RAT, though the reason why you struggled with the CAT is due to how you have it set up. It's running through both loops, it should only be ran through the last loop and you will not have any struggle with the velcro when pulling.
-
Except a Cat T or Soft T will actually fully stop bleeding, this is basically adding min. Pressure and you will still have leakage.
