I want to see Adam Driver reprise his role as Abraham H. Parnassus but this time he's a chaperone for Mordecai's class field trip to (insert location)
  • This sketch was written by Eli Mandel. It was the first sketch he submitted after being hired as a writer for SNL. He based the character on an "old man" character he used to play during improv sessions in Chicago. Interestingly, he said he thought the script was terrible, and that SNL would instantly reject it. But some of the other writers thought it was funny. Mandel said that it was ultimately Adam Driver's brilliant performance that made the sketch.

Either Adam Driver is a fantastic actor, or deep in his heart, Adam Driver is an oil Baron in his soul.

I just rewatched this and I feel like Adam was just messing with Pete "look upon your father". He saw Pete breaking already and just went in for the kill.
  • @nateconley.6209
This was just 5 full minutes of Adam trying to break Pete and flexing his acting skills hard
  • So Mordecai is the descendant of H.R. Pickens. But Mordecai is also the weakest in his class, sullying the Parnassus bloodline. Looks like it was H.R. Pickens who got the final revenge. Great lore.

man Adam Driver brings his acting game no matter what.

"Now your bones turn to oil beneath my living feet!" This is my favorite line Adam Driver ever said.
  • @paige1281
i just love that pete is fucking DYING the entire time
  • @Elle--lc7ep
"I wanna be you when I grow up!" "AND SO YOU SHALL!!!!"
  • I never tire of watching this sketch. I just realised Abraham H. Parnassus says he has been an oil man for 82 years. That means, factoring in that he started at a young age but still a man, he is over 100 years old with an elementary aged child! He's a boss!

Adam Driver should have gotten an Emmy for this performance.

"My bones never hardened but my spirit did." 🤣
  • Adam Driver has been the best SNL guest. He kills it every skit.
